I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

Was anyone else successful with calling them to waive the 95$ annual fee while applying for the card online? If yes, what's again a good phone nr for that?
It used to be 3 to 5 days, but apparently it seems Chase now takes a longer time to register the downgrade on their system and remove the canceled card from your profile. I always advise to wait 5 to 7 days. Some members here reported their product change request had taken as many as 9 days to complete. I wouldn't be surprised if the wait time is even longer by now.
I suggest you go to your branch again to sign up by this Friday which is the last day of the offer according to some members' email invite. As of today there is no sign the offer will be extended. I could be wrong though. If your banker says your are still ineligible to sign up, ask him to sign you up as a guest which means not to use your profile to apply. This is gonna be the same as you signing up online yourself without your profile, but doing it in-branch will get your $95 AF waived for the first year. Good luck!

When signing up as a guest, is there any issue having the card associated with your actual Chase account after the fact? Guessing not but just checking!
Not really. Once approved, the new card will be tied to your profile. This is just a workaround to overcome the downgrade process being stuck on Chase system. There is absolutely no adverse effect by doing this.

Got it! Thank you for the quick response! Guess I'll go this route so I don't miss out.

Just went yesterday and applied (and was accepted). At the branch I went to, they waited the annual fee for first year, but had NO CLUE about the grocery credit, even though I pointed this out to them. Either way seemed like a good deal regardless so still applied

That post you quoted is from June 4th! The deal has gone through multiple evolutions since then.
Before July 17th, the sign-up offer included a $50 grocery credit.
Between July 17 and August 16, there was no $50 credit for anything.
After August 16, the sign-up offer includes a $50 hotel credit (part of the change in Sapphire Preferred benefits).
That being said, the branch official that you spoke to should have known that the grocery credit offer expired a month ago and should have been able to explain it to you.
I'm in the same boat. I downgraded on the 18th and went into the branch yesterday (8/26) and they said I had to wait until 9/15 because the credit bureau still sees the Sapphire Card on my account.
I'm going back in today (7 days later) to apply for the CSP at another branch. If I can't get it, I'll apply for the IHG Card.
I downgraded Sapphire Reserve to Freedom Unl on the 20th and applied to Preferred
using referral link on Tue 24th. Approved after I moved some credit limit from old card to new Sapphire Preferred.
The anniversary bonus is 10% of whatever UR points you've earned through the year (including the 5X points earned on UR travel purchases). There is no cap on the anniversary bonus.
Example: Say you paid $500 for a hotel booked through the UR travel portal, you'll earn 5X points = 2,500 points. On your credit card anniversary date, this purchase would contribute 250 points (10%) to your bonus total.
The $50 hotel credit is applied to any purchase coded as a hotel that you purchased through the UR travel portal. You'll see the credit applied immediately as soon as the UR travel purchase is posted to your account. You can consider it a reimbursement for hotel expenses, up to a maximum of $50.00.
The credit is applied automatically. There is nothing that you need to do (other than make the purchase via the UR travel portal).
Example: Same as above, you paid $500 for a hotel booked through the UR travel portal. You'll receive the points noted above. .... If you are a new cardmember, as soon as the $500 purchase is posted onto your account, you will receive the $50 credit. .... The credit it will be annotated on your account as a "STMNT CRDT HOTEL PURCHS" (Statement Credit Hotel Purchase), or words to that effect.
P.S. The $50 hotel credit is available immediately to new cardmembers who signed up after August 16. Existing cardmembers will become eligible for the hotel credit after their next account anniversary.
Thanks for taking the time to explain that to me, I appreciate it!
