I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

At this time, there is no clear answer when it will end. Previous rumor says the end date was on 08/27 based on the email invite other members had received. Chase increased the offer to 100K points in early June, and credit card welcome offers typically last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, so it is best to act sooner if you're interested in this deal.

Unlike AMEX manages its own card network and collects all detailed card data, Chase would have to pay Visa or MasterCard to have the same data. What I am trying to say is Chase is unable to find out what you purchase from a store. They would only know you have made a purchase from a particular place. While AMEX can easily find out your purchase is a prepaid gift card, Chase is unable to do the same unless they pay extra fee to Visa or Mastercard to find out. Just keep in mind that you'll be paying a certain fee for prepaid visa/mc/amex cards.
If you really want to have prepaid Visa for manufacture spending, consider getting them from Staples. They have been running the no-fee deals every few weeks.
where do i redeem the point for traveling and airplane ticket? It seems like you get more by redeeming the point for traveling rather than straight up cashback?

You must book your travel via the Ultimate Rewards travel portal in order to take advantage of the 25% higher redemption rate.
Assuming that you previously set up your online Chase account, you can navigate to the Ultimate Rewards portal from your credit card account page (see attached image). Click on the link shown.
The next screen that opens up will show your different UR accounts. Select the credit card account that you wish to use.
When the Ultimate Rewards portal comes up, click on the menu icon (three horizontal bars in the upper left corner). Select "Travel".
From there, booking your travel is straightforward... similar to most other travel websites.
If you're familiar with Expedia.com, you'll have no trouble navigating the Ultimate Rewards travel portal. Chase uses the Expedia platform.

So there's 2 methods.
3 posts above describes using the Chase portal--- that gets you 1.25 cents a point (or 1.5 cents a point if you also have access to a CSR in your household and use the points that way).
You can often do better- sometimes a lot better- than 1.25c/pt elsewhere though.
Specifically by transferring the points to one of Chases travel partners.
The only hotel worth doing this with usually is Hyatt- where getting 2-2.5 cents per point compared to the cash booking price is not difficult to do.
Airline-wise there's a lot of options, and getting 1.5-2.5 cents a point for coach....and 3-6 cents per point in business class, is likewise not uncommon (though you may need some flexibility in your travel schedule depending on where you're going and when).

Am I too late? I recall reading that the deal was supposed to expire and I don't want to jump through hoops if I am late to the party.
Please advise as I would downgrade tomorrow if you think that I have time.
Thanks in advance

I just downgraded my CSR this morning to my second freedom card. I hope that the deal will still be around in a few days.
