I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

Chase points are more valuable generally than AA miles, and the bonus categories are better and higher too.
The only value in any AA credit card, apart from the signup bonuses, are the ways it can let you bypass most of the drawbacks of basic economy.
The one other time it can be worth it- if you travel a lot, specifically on american, and specifically through a lot of airports with admirals clubs- in which case the high annual fee AA card is a cheaper way to get admirals club membership.
The AA card isn't unique either, most airline cards are pretty crap for general use but CAN be worth hanging on to beyond signups for other perks depending on how much you travel on a specific airline.
One thing that's good about the AA card is the first check in luggage for free each and every flight. so if you fly more than three flights or 1.5 roundtrips, that would cover the annual fee right there.
You also get to use the priority lane at the counter with less people...
Also I notice they try to give me free upgrades to first class many times esp for shorter flights. Also i have to admit first class seats aren't always better. I've had very dirty first class seats with non working power plugs that would make me just want to go back to a clean eco seat with working plugs....lol...
Granted this sucks because we used to see most airlines used to give free first bag check in anyway. Now most are charging fee on even first bag ;(
3 posts above describes using the Chase portal--- that gets you 1.25 cents a point (or 1.5 cents a point if you also have access to a CSR in your household and use the points that way).
You can often do better- sometimes a lot better- than 1.25c/pt elsewhere though.
Specifically by transferring the points to one of Chases travel partners.
The only hotel worth doing this with usually is Hyatt- where getting 2-2.5 cents per point compared to the cash booking price is not difficult to do.
Airline-wise there's a lot of options, and getting 1.5-2.5 cents a point for coach....and 3-6 cents per point in business class, is likewise not uncommon (though you may need some flexibility in your travel schedule depending on where you're going and when).
Considering getting CSP and I usually fly domestically on American Airlines. I see that there is a way to use British Airways to get my AA miles. Does that mean I would be limited to transferring my points to BA miles at 1c/1pt or can you book AA somehow through the Chase portal for the 1.25c/pt?
Along that line, you mentioned that you can often do a lot better than 1.25 by transferring points to miles. Any tips to seeing/tracking the 'exchange rate' for BA miles?
Are there any other snags or things to be aware of going in with specifically AA travel in mind?
I apologize if these have been answered elsewhere. I was unable to get definitive info in my search. Thanks in advance.

It's always YMMV - but here are some scenarios:
You can book AA flights on BA using Avios - so yes you could transfer to BA and use the BA website to purchase a flight on AA. BA uses distance pricing so it can sometimes be a much better value. For example my daughter had a softball game scheduled in a smaller city and AA wanted $1600 for a last minute round trip flight. Since it was 480 miles away BA only wanted like 4500 Avios each way for the same flight on AA.
Using the Chase portal you can purchase flights at the same price it would cost on the airline site so if if it's a $125 flight it would cost 10k points not 12,500 points.
You could only get AA miles via flying, AA credit card, some bank sign-ups until the last month or so when they came out with a new CITI card that for a limited time will allow transfers to AA miles.

Previous post did a solid job explaining your options... short-haul domestic is a great example where transfer to avios can be a good value for booking AA flights.
To clarify though on transfers- 1 point=1 avios. The cash value you get out of the avios will vary depending what you're booking. You OUGHT be able to get significantly more than 1 cent per avios though.
Ideally you check this on the BA website with a test booking before doing the point transfer.
And yes you can always book via the portal at 1.25c/pp.
One other thing worth noting- booking at 1.25c in the portal is, to the airline, a "cash" booking-- so you'd earn miles for that.
So if you ever find a case where it's about the same point cost transfering vs the portal, go with the portal.
i got approved for CSP at the bank today morning. $95 first year fee waived automatically. the lady was very nice and every thing was quick. i requested for a quick shipping and she was able to get 1 to 2 day shipping. by default it was a 3 to 5 day shipping. there wasn't much crowd at the bank but setting up an appointment was helpful.
this is the first time i'm getting a chase sapphire card. i've read somewhere it is possible to apply for CSR also on the same day and there is a chance that also can get approved. is that possible? has anyone tried that recently? i am already pre-approved for both CSP and CSR. thank you.

Since you already have the Unlimited, it'd be better to product change your CSR to Freedom Flex which has 5% back on quarterly rotating categories. If you want the $200 sign-up bonus for the Flex in future, then downgrading the CSR to another Unlimited is doable. Chase allows customers to have more than one Freedom Unlimited. For detailed steps before signing up CSP, see below post.
I have CSR since 01/2017, thinking about downgrade to another chase card.
Which freedom to go? I have the old freedom already.
Also, when this promotion will end?
Since it may take ~7 days after downgrading.
Many thanks!
At this time, there is no clear answer when it will end. Chase has never made any official announcement about the end date. Previous rumor says the end date was on 08/27 based on the email invite other members had received. Chase increased the offer to 100K points in early June, and credit card welcome offers typically last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months until the budget of the promotion runs out, so it is best to act sooner if you're interested in this deal.
