I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

I didn't keep track of how long it took to clear online applications because they seemed to be taking much quicker .. something on the order of twice as fast.

Since 8/27/2021, more data points have been added. This time, I also kept a tally of online applications.
Note: The reports denoted as "> __ days" are of limited value. They simply report failures at certain point in time. The applicant never reported back. So, it is not known when those applications were eventually approved.

Overall, I'd posit that the clearance times remain the same between the two tallies:
1 to 2 weeks for in-branch applications
4 to 7 days for online applications.
I think you and Tazmania are definitely the heros of this thread!
Any idea how long it takes for referral points to post - and is it fair to say 20000 points is worth $250?
You should find a good mechanic that can help you diagnose a lemon. With a lease, you are paying extra for having a new car every few years. Even if you factor in maintenance, owning is the wiser financial move over the long haul. Learn to make your own repairs and it will be even cheaper. Don't let one lemon affect your financial decisions the rest of your life.
Thanks for the advice. This is actually the plan, though I wont be buying a lemon. Probably a 4 year old car with a good amount of miles. Like I mentioned, I just leased for transportation purposes and to give myself time to make a decision of whether I was ever going to ride a motorcycle again. I will eventually buy a car but ill make that decision within the next few years.
P.S. "Fairness" is in the eye of the beholder. (I've read your previous posts and understand what you're trying to get at. However, I think it is something you need to work out with your friend.)
Thanks. I was wondering why that question keeps getting ignored. I think its a fair question- just want to know what other people would do. The friend is getting found money no matter what.

It's very situation dependent. Part of it will be how the friend will use the UR points for the value of those. Then, referral bonus money is technically taxable income (although Chase generally won't issue a 1099 until a certain threshold) as opposed to the tax-free sign up bonus. So that would vary depending on the friend's margin tax rates.
So in the worst case of 1 cent per point and ~50% tax rate, the friend would only be getting 100 and be paying you 125. Of course, it's likely the value would be higher but just depends and is something you'd just have to work out with them on what both of you consider fair.
All your questions aside, I think you should know that this deal is not available to anyone who is either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months. If you are an existing Sapphire customer and would like this product, please call the number on the back of your card to see if you are eligible for a product change. You will not receive the new cardmember bonus if you change products.

I have a CSR from 3 years ago and looking to get this deal by downgrading to a Chase Freedom, waiting 2 weeks and then applying in Branch. The problem is I've made a few big purchases recently and intend on doing at least one return. How does that work? If I downgrade, I assume I'm going to get a new credit card number so how will a return for the CSR get processed if the CSR account is no longer active?

I got my last CSR bonus more than 48 months ago and the whole reason for downgrading.is to not be a current sapphire card holder. Hence the waiting 2 weeks and applying as a new sapphire preferred application after my product downgrade to a freedom card. Lmk if my understanding is off
That makes more sense to apply coz you mentioned you have a CSR from 3 years ago, which is 36 months and not qualified for a new Sapphire bonus.
Back to your question. When you downgrade your CSR to another no-fee card that is within the same card network, the card number will be the same for the new card. Since CSR is a Visa Signature card, it'd be best to downgrade to Freedom Unlimited which is also a Visa. If you downgrade to Freedom Flex, the card number will be changed because all Visa starts with "4" while all Mastercard starts with "5". And yes, Freedom Flex is a Mastercard.

$200 is the face value of 20K points I would say. When I split $100 with you, you can't value my $50 to buy a lotto ticket and then win a jackpot for a million dollar. You are not sharing my million dollar, right? Same as the referral points. You can't assume your friend must cash out the 20K points for $250.
And I agree with 1dash1 that you should work out with your friend. Maybe your friend just wants to help you out and doesn't care about the money?!

And you think if splitting with friend, $125 is fair to ask for or should I ask for $100?
I PC'd pm Sep 8 so have had Chase Freedom for a week and just received a balance transfer offer on my Chase Sapphire Reserve --- that is not a good sign that it cleared from my acct yet
