Teflon inside. Get the instant pot. It is stainless inside.

No, get this, non-stick is much easier to clean that stainless, and you are never scraping these so the wear is not a problem.

Neither has a stainless insert, so get this if you think you'll need 8qt. Also, I wish they had named it crackpot

Amazon sells an instant pot branded 8 qt stainless steel insert for $35. Reviews say it fits this 8qt insignia. It is nice to have 2 pots- one to cook the main meal and the second to cook the rice.
This answered my question above Smilie

I have an old 8qt instant pot and the insert is fine. Think that insert would work in this insignia pot?
The 2 critical areas that would matter & determine 'swappability' are the bottom surface/diameter (which likely would be suitable) where it contacts the inner 'hot plate', but mostly the upper rim diameter & fit with the insignia silicone gasket ring.
It would be easy to check that fit by flipping the Insignia top cover over and seeing how your old insert fits on the Insignia's sealing gasket ring. Also compare height of the top rim to the other insert.

Good timing & good deal. ApplauseI had bought the recent frontpage Crock Pot Express 6qt model, but had wished I bought two of them, at that price.
Now I cured that with picking up the 8qt Insignia.

Not worried about the teflon for the short-term future, as it's super easy to clean & harmless if not scratched or chipped. Have plenty of time to find matching stainless inserts.

Awesome thanks, damaged my instant pot to the point of no repair while moving. Do they sell a stainless steel insert for this one?
The instant pot 8 quart stainless steel pot will fit in the Insignia cooker. That's what I did when my IP died last year. I tossed the Teflon coated Pot in the recycle pin

Food cooked is teflon coated vessel is very bad for health as they release toxic chemicals on high heat, please avoid this.
Please don't make ignorant comments. It is nearly impossible to chemically break down Teflon during normal cooking. Yes it is true if you use a frying pan with no food in it and go above 570F the teflon will start to break down and inhalation of the fumes can cause some "flu like symptoms". That is not normal use however and would be difficult for most people to accomplish without some very bad behavior. It certainly isn't possible in a pressure cooker.

A pressure cooker has a maximum temperature of around 250F. Even for saute it would be very difficult to misuse the teflon pan insert this badly.

Again stop spreading outdated incorrect information about the safety of Teflon. It's one of the main materials used for medical implants for a very good reason you know.

I also bought the 6qt deal and picked it up yesterday. But just ordered this one as well. We could probably use the extra 2qt, everything else being similar. Most likely will return the 6qt one once wife blesses this 8qt.

Owned this for over 2 years and it works alright. The seal that locks the top let's steam out not providing enough pressure to automatically lock the steam from getting out. So you have to physically push it down to add additional pressure to get the lock in place. It's somewhat of a PITA.

But for 8qts at $35 (I paid $40) this is still a good deal.
Perhaps you've tried this already, but right after unboxing my 6qt Crock Pot Express from the recent frontpage deal, I did a quick water/steam test and mine leaked steam from all around the lid, as you describe, and also would only make a seal when applying downward pressure to the lid (but mine wouldn't hold the seal when I let go).

After it cooled, I then found the groove of the inner silicone ring seal kind of 'stuck' to the steel round mounting ring. I simply pried it loose with my fingers, then took off the silicone ring, and reinstalled it and that did the trick.

Maybe try that to possibly end the 2 year glitch you're having.

Unsure, but I bought a SS insert for my Insignia when I purchased it a year or so ago.
Would you comment on the quality and durability of the Insignia pot?

I had a Insignia microwave oven, it only lasted several months. I spent my own money to sent it to the manufacturer for a replacement (the return address was in NY). Never received a replacement. I cut my losses and moved on.

I don't use the non-stick pot so I can't comment on that one, but the stainless one (also Insignia branded) has been terrific so far!

Edit: Unless you meant the whole system, then my comment about terrific stands. I've been nothing but happy!

I been using mine almost daily since Feb 3 of this year. Zero issues ( I'm using my old stainless steel pot from my broken IP )
