I was able to finally get the card activated after sending a brief email explaining the situation copying a random assortment of executive, VP, etc. email addresses I was able to find. So if anyone else has a basic customer service issue with this card just be aware that all you have to do to get it fixed is raise absolute hell to the highest possible level of authority for weeks on end.
I tried to buy 500$ gc from cvs when it arrived, blocked. Called citi from cvs itself infront of a suspecting cvs staff. It was saturday 6pm. After about 30 mins hold, rep on citi fixed after validating my identity. Able to buy. Not sure why you had such hard time!

why that much from cvs? they sell overpriced items. or do you have prescription medication there that you have to buy regularly

That is a hard time in itself. I like it when they just send me a text, e-mail, or a push notification asking me to verify the transaction was made by me.
Having to call and spend 30 minutes on hold and going through the security procedures with a citi rep is a pain, having had to do that multiple times.
limited to only $500 spend per billing cycle which equates to $25 cash back per month...
nice, but limited to such a small amount.
Sure, but it does work well for regular expenditures. The other thing is that it's only one for one category with the highest spend anyway, so basically you should be dedicating this card to one thing only. There's not really a whole lot you should be spending $500 on every single month besides maybe food or groceries lol
I went to the branch in NYC, applied, and got rejected after a few days. So I applied again today online with that credit karma link $300 when you spend $1000, and got approved! What a life in the USA!
Can I upgrade to this instead of applying and getting a credit ding?
I called CITI to see if I can replace my old card (which will be useless with this new card) and they said the promotion will not be applied if we switch
