Feathers? Can you even buy feather pillows anymore?

I grew up with down (and a few feathers) pillows, I can not sleep on man-made pillows!

Please stop buying these polyester fill pillows and filling up the landfills; you can invest in a decent pillow that with care will last you over 10 years!

Also, you can re-fluff your polyester and shreded foam pillows with washing them in a non-agitator (like a front-load) washing machine. On a warm, breezy day wash two pillows (to balance the load) with a minimal amount of detergent (like half the smallest load measure). Add white vingegar to the rinse water and use a 2nd rinse option and extended rinse if you have them.
Put an old tennis ball in a clean sock (or use dryer balls) in the dryer with the pillows and put them on air-only, or the extreme-low heat setting for 30-60 minutes - then hang them outside for a day to dry. (Polyester pillows you can do up to medium heat for 1 hour).
Wash down/feather pillows once a year and you should get many years out of it.

My favorite is Pacific Coast [pacificcoast.com] (Costco used to sell these, watch for their sales and the prices will get better. I like extra-firm down-only so I end up paying around $80-100/pillow).

Another note, when my down pillows reach a certain age and are too "flat", I save them and will combine other old down pillows to fill it up fuller. So, keep in mind that $100 for a pillow sounds like a lot, but when I'm getting over ten years from one, that's $10/year from a cheap, hot, flat, wasteful polyester one.

I bought these last year. I bought the firm variety and "never goes flat" from walmart. To be honest, they're the only pillow i have that hasnt gone flat. I bought the serta cool pillow and it went flat really fast whereas this stayed firm and puffy. Certainly lives to it's name. I just wish all of their pillows could live to that standard.
