Even though it is for some minor home project, I better get a reliable brand like Franklin, rather than changing every few years.

The other guy linked another Franklin one, but that is double the cost. For DIY, this is just fine.
BJs in blue [bjs.com] or orange [bjs.com]
Costco [costco.com]

I got similar to this product from Ama\zon a few months back and compare it with Costco, they both are accurate on most of the places, but sometime Costco doesn't show stud and this one did and sometimes this one didn't and Costco did.
This is what I use. Much better than any stud finder ive ever used.
For most people the cheap one with powerful magnets should find the nails or screws that attach the wallboard to the wall. Enough for normal work.
However they will not find the electrical wiring. They are only as accurate as were the nails or screws screwed in.
I do not know about this particular one. The one he used detected the actual wood not just the nails or screws and worked very well. It was also very good at finding the electrical wires.
Edit: The video on the third review makes it look like it is very effective. Looks very similar though not quite as good as the one my son used.
