Do yourself a favor and get some safety bars if you get this I see people mentioning this being ok for new lifters but they usually need the safety bars more than the vets that know are limits with that said I still always set my safety bars when I bench after 20 years of lifting because shit happens and I don't want to crush my face because I pulled or tore something

I built this with wood 2 years ago for 50 bucks, and it stores easily... does this easy break down for storage and not an eyesore in an limited space?

Not designed for it, but seems like it'd be fine as it's good enough for pull-ups

Thanks. For apartment faraway from playground, it seems to be a good way to diy a swing/monkey bar indoors using this frame.

Which is more stable for pullups: this one or 170$ one mentioned?

Pulled the trigger. Seems like a great price for someone just getting started without breaking the bank, but I'm a newbie at this. Lowest price on triple dromedary.
I used and enjoyed this rack for a good 4 years before "upgrading". It will serve you well if you don't too too many swinging pullups or 5 plate squats or anything.

That's a snatch which you wouldn't do inside this rack 🤔

The $170 "alternative" version is decent (paid $220 during COVID) but still has major design flaws and build problems, plus low quality materials like the linings of the J hooks...pretty much par for the course for CAP.

Honestly, I'd go with this cheaper one. If you need safety catches, you're either a complete beginner or a seasoned pro...neither is really the market for these. I like the catches for a convenient place to set the bar down, but I've never once bailed on a squat.

Save the cash and buy this, it's a steal. If it doesn't work out, you can still sell it for $50-$75

I have the Fuel Performance version of the deluxe rack. Bought it for ~$200 from Walmart with the bench about 2 years ago, pre-covid.

It's not the most stable feeling, but perfectly functional for pull ups. In addition to the safety bars, the weight plate holders are a nice bonus. They help weigh the rack down to provide more stability. I think that's worth the price difference.

It's true that the j hooks are really low quality, and the inner black lining deteriorates and makes a bit of a mess.

The main reason I would consider this over the deluxe is if you have this in the garage. With the way the feet are designed (the diagonal stabilizer bars) you'd lose a critical few inches or clearance for your car's front bumper.

Would also recommend rings for body workouts.

The safety bars for this rack are pretty useless. The hole spacing is like 3 inches which makes it difficult to place the safeties in a spot where they will effectively spot you (they will be either too high or too low). They are also ridiculously short, something like 10 inches. No one should be pushing their limits with this rack.

It is an okay rack for people who are doing high rep work with weights they can comfortably handle (you never feel like you are in danger of missing a rep) or beginners working with lighter weights and just looking for something to get them going. But if you are more serious about lifting, going for PRs, lifting heavier weight, etc, something like this: https://slickdeals.net/f/15067666-progear-1600-ultra-strength-800lb-weight-capacity-power-cage-201-or-less-w-free-shipping-at-macy-s?src=SiteSearch is a much better choice.
