For a $2k purchase, I wouldn't put a ton of stock in what people on a forum say in regards to whether or not it's a good deal.

Is there a g1 for this price or similar? Right now I see the evo panels are only made on the g1 and it costs around 35% more than this deal.
Where do you 10% back on Amazon card? They had 10% back on select TV's but not this one. My understanding is that you'll get 6% back for prime day purchase.
Comparing to buyers sale - Buydig sale is $100 cheaper and includes a 4 yr warranty. If I use a 2% cash back citi card on buydig the difference is $89 (after tax for me). So Buydig is just $11 cheaper but most importantly you get a 4 yr warranty. If there were no warranty added I would have ordered from Amazon. But right now, Buydig remains the better deal.

The point is, the US releases for the first quarter came from a different province without the Evo Panel. It is pretty much a gamble when you purchase. From what I have seen and what I know first hand is that the C1s on sale are the non-Evo.
I don't think one can generalize that these are on sale because these are 'non-evo'. LG has put the all of their C1's on sale, not specific batches. No one knows what they'll get. And I understand there are plenty of reports in US about people getting evo panels so it might just be a lottery.
But one shouldn't give too much stock to the 'lottery'. In the end, most reports say it doesn't matter. The difference is minor and you'll barely notice it even when they are side by side. Remember that even if a particular C1 unit has the same panel as a G1, it's not driven like a G1 (by its software). I know the hack exists to make the TV think it's a G1. But one shouldn't risk blowing the warranty on such an expensive purchase by implementing the hack. Yeah, implementing hacks seems like a cool thing to - but keep the risk vs. reward in context. This is not a $100 router you are hacking. It's is $1500 to $3300 TV (depending on size). What if TV goes bad and you can't get into the settings to change it back; you ship it to LG with the G1 hack, and there is a good chance warranty coverage might be refused. And LG will be in the right to refuse it in such a case. (Side note - there are people that actually use the speakers if the TV. It's known that the hack makes the sound terrible because the speakers are physically different between the TVs).
Bottom line - don't worry about the lottery. Difference between TV brands and models might be noticeable. But between the same TV coming from different factories? Naah. You have to have two TVs sitting side by side playing the same content to make out any difference. At that point you are just splitting hairs.

Mostly used for sports/shows/movies, but occasionally use my PS4 (which will be upgraded to PS5 at some point).

I was offered $100 discount on an already heavily discounted LG C1 from BeachCamera, because of the marked differences in luminescence and picture quality and yes, this is from putting 3 LG C1s together in a contrast with a Sony A90J. Two 65", one 55" and the A90J was 65". So, I know what I'm taking about first hand, because I own all four and continue to test them. The non-Evo is doing back to Beach Camera on Wednesday.
This is sheer ignorance and due to not being familiar with the facts:

I assume that forfeits the 2.5% slickdeals cashback, which would be about $50 though, right?
Also, some cashback cards give extra % for online shopping. Would calling it in not be an online shopping purchase anymore?
Does the Sony having better upscaling and sharpness make a difference if you're using an nvidia shield tv, or with 4K content

I would have gotten one for myself too if I had known what a great deal it was compared to what they're commanding now!
