I have a large BGE, this KJ Jr. and a Blackstone 22" for all my outdoor cooking needs. I typically use the Jr. for true grilling with limited low/slow smoking. It is a little small to do much of the smoking you'd do. I can fit 3 strip steaks or 2-3 ribeyes that I finish off at 600-650 with little effort. I do meatloaf in a lodge cast iron bread pan on the Jr. and that is about all I do on the Jr. I save smoking (butts, ribs, brisket, etc.) for the BGE. I do burgers, bacon, pancakes, veggies, etc. on the Blackstone.

I am only cooking for 3 people on a typical weekday so this KJ Jr. is perfect for our grilling needs. When the power went out for 3 days during the ice storm this year, we ate pretty good with KJ cooking almost all our meals. Pork chops, scalloped potatoes, meatloaf, steaks, chicken breasts were all great.
The Kamado Joe Jr is made of ceramic. The chargriller you linked is rock wool sandwiched between sheet metal.

Is the KJ Jr worth double the price? Depends. I've got a Chargriller Akorn that has served me well for 6 years. The ceramic one will hold temperature much better, and it wont rust eventually rust out like a metal one. I'd love to have a ceramic kamado, but I'm not losing anything important with my metal Akorn
If the purpose is just to grill and smoke and you don't care about anything else, then both are great and will get the job done. The difference comes from the quality. K.Jr uses ceramic while Akorn uses metal. I prefer ceramic because if maintained properly, they simply last longer. Metal can rust and paint can strip easily. The warranty on K.Jr is lifetime so if it cracks for any reason other than you dropping it, you can get it replaced for free. I've used their warranty many times. It's awesome and quick but albeit, it may take some time if the part is out of stock. Some say the Akorn retains heat as well as ceramic grills but speaking with other people on the Kamado forums, it doesn't seem to be true. Again, Akorn is great. $150 is a solid deal. But for $150 more, I probably would get the K.Jr if you can afford to chuck it up. The parts are higher quality, the seal is better, the warranty is easier to use, and it just looks nicer. The primary reason to get one of these kamado grills is if you want the versatility of smoking as well. If all you want is a grill, I'd just get a weber kettle, honestly.

It's a little small for a smoker. You'll never fit a full packer brisket on there and you'd have to cut ribs in half or get one of those vertical rigs. Smoke flavor will be superior to any pellet grill.

Curious if the KJ Jr. is worth double the price of this unit. What are the added features/functionality?

The Pit Boss wouldn't do regular sized brisket and ribs well because it's too small. I passed on both.

Is this the ridiculously small one that fits like 2.5 chicken breasts? If so, it may be fine for 1-2 people & if you don't want leftovers, but 13.5" may be hilariously small when you see it in person

You can do a chicken on a beercan as far as height (its close to bumping the thermometer stem in the lid) but can easily do a spatchcock chicken.
