I bought this at the last sale from BB and it's super fast and quiet. It also does NOT burn my legs after extended use. While the max resolution is 2256 x 1504, I find myself at 1659 x 1106 (85%). I usually set my devices at the highest resolution but 85% was a good balance between sharpness and being able to tap items on the touchscreen.
To my surprise, the Lock button (top-right) is not "Instant Lock" but you have to hold it for a few seconds so there are no accidental locks.
The touchpad feels amazing. I'm still getting used to the new shortcuts and gestures (coming from a windows user). This laptop passes the 1-Handed lift test...if it on a surface that's gripping the bottom.
Bad things...like everyone says, the speakers. They're downward-facing under the hand rest area. You really have to crank it to hear anything. For me this is fine bc I can just pair any BT device.
I love that it can slave off my OnePlus for internet.
One big thing I noticed on the brand new Spin 713 (11th gen Intel cpu) is they removed the USB C charging on 1 side. So you'd be limited to only 1 side for charging.
This Chromebook is already a beast compared to most models. For the subtle upgrade to the cpu on the new model, I don't think it's worth it to pay more for a laptop just because it's newer.
IMO, this Chromebook at this sale price is too good to pass up.

ChromeOS uses Linux as its core OS. Google is formally enabling native Linux app support:

It's not native, but this is one of the "preferred devices" that can run Windows 10 via parallels: https://www.forbes.com/sites/barr...d9e027566a

Linus Tech Tips about it here as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfdQF3T2WKU

Of course, you may also want to upgrade the 128GB HD: https://www.reddit.com/r/chromeos...ade_guide/

I have this laptop and I'm a pretty big fan... I actually haven't even felt the need to install Windows yet, since I use it as my "couch laptop" and wind up just browsing most of the time. Screen is great, and I love the 3:2 screen ratio, the only negative I have for this laptop is that the speakers are too quiet and in the worst possible location.

Would you compare this as superior to Lenovo Flex 5 chromebook with 8gb ram and 128gb hard drive?

According to that Forbes article:
"Then there's the cost, which is $69.99 per year (£49.99 in the UK) for Parallels Desktop for Chromebook Enterprise, plus the cost of the Windows license.
Parallels has no plans as yet to release a version of consumer Chromebook owners, but watch this space."
Looks like you'll need to spend some extra money for Windows.

Imo, it's nothing different than most laptops I've tested. But it's no where near as bad as a Nintendo 3DS screen wobble. You might have to test it in store tbh

ChromeOS is a better OS than MacOS or Windows for 90% of users, IMO.

You can only run Parallels on a managed network, individuals can't run it.

I would be into chromebooks if the android apps actually worked well. Most apps are laggy not to mention most games. I find it ironic google made chrome os, but fails to optimize android on chrome os. I much prefer the tab s7+ with dex mode vs a chromebook. Just my opinion though.
