Not knocking the deal as it is the best price currently, but don't trust that MSRP for a second. It's $629 (+89 shipping) from Sam's club, which includes their return policy. In the end that may be a better deal for some people.

This year proved that I don't need a gym. A home gym is way better on my time and my wallet. Plus, no gym people...

Yep, been slowly buying stuff, moving in a few weeks and I'll be picking up a rogue squat rack to replace the wood one I built during covid

Wow can we all just keep on topic?

I just have a question for those more informed than me about home gym equipment. For an avg joe looking for general fitness and do some strength training, is this better vs something like inspire ftx from Costco? I know it's not exactly same thing but I figure you can mimic many of the movements on the ftx, which is what I have. Ftx is more $$$ but already has plates so probably similar price range. Just looking for rational opinion not hyperbole.
So I got the Costco Inspire FTX a few months ago. It's a nice machine, feels pretty smooth. I got it to supplement my dumbbell and barbell workouts. I don't think it would replace it though. If you have a bench and select tech weight set + the Inspire, that's all you need. The Costco FTX also comes with 1 year membership to their version of Peloton workouts. I haven't used that app yet, production quality looks pretty poor compared to Peloton. Looks comparable to amateur porn. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Cool thx for input. Yea I have ftx as well and like it for its quality, versatility, and compact size but was curious about this machine. It seems like a good fit for a smaller framed person like myself. It's also quite good for someone with back problems like myself as I can simulate other traditional movements with less loading stress on back. If I was much taller some of the settings on ftx might be awkward. Anyone mention already if pulleys are 1:2 or 1:1 ratio, like does it halve the weight/resistance of plates like the ftx does?

Years ago I bought this in store from Sams Club for $400 just to provide an idea of value. Great set, but the msrp is inflated.

I'd rather work out at the gym. it's like studying at the library.
Except everyone at the library doesn't stink like BO, isn't grunting and bellowing, dropping heavy items repeatedly, nor are they sweating profusely all over the seats and everything they touch.

As a general rule, Smith machines are terrible for most workouts and only useful for a few things. Don't squat or bench in them, the movement is not what the bar path should be. Also, this appears to be a straight vertical bar-path, whereas most Smiths have a slight angle to at least mimic the correct motion on some lifts.

If you're dying for a Smith, there's probably better options, but the vast majority of people should be passing on it for a home gym regardless.
It does have a slight angle. Maybe you shouldn't review a product you've never seen?

Cheaper on Amazon currently. The reviews don't give me much hope for the durability of this machine. Plus, the bar is attached to the smith machine so you'd need to buy an Olympic bar for anything else. I'd like to buy one, but these issues make it seem not worth it to me.

I 100% would've bought this if I didn't already have what I got earlier this year. That being said, I got a half rack and a bench for $300 that have everything I need. Bought a pulley system and bands with a ton of attachments for another $50. This is just next level.

Meh, that's more of a misconception than a general rule. It's no argument the free weights provide more benefit, but that doesn't make a Smith Machine "terrible for most workouts". You just have to know how to properly use a Smith Machine.

You can squat and bench in them with no issues.

Facebook marketplace has had some crazy deals on gym equipment. A lot of people who bought equipment during the pandemic now wants to get it out of there living room, barely used. I picked up a Vectra vx-18 for $1100. I've seen Cybex multi gyms for as low as $900. You can not compare the quality between this and these high end machines. Obviously, this is local to me but I am sure if you are patient you will find a sick deal.
