Best Buy Student Deals - Free Magic Keyboard with purchase of Ipad Pro 12.9 (4th gen)

Best Buy is currently offering a free magic keyboard with purchase of a 4th gen iPad pro 12.9.

You have to add both to cart and then hit apply at checkout.

Must be eligible and signed up for student deals.

This essentially works out to be the same price for the iPad as the BJ's deal for the 256Gb model.

Edit: Some people noted the price doesn't reflect in the cart. It didn't for me either. There's an actual "Apply" button under the promotion in the cart you have to click in order for the discount to apply. Didn't know it was a thing until this deal.

Not such a good deal when you realize you're paying last year's MSRP for a generation old product.
Ahh good look, for some reason I thought 4th gen was latest, but M1 is 5th gen. Almost pulled the trigger.

Agreed. New gen is 20-50% faster: https://barefeats.com/ipad-pro-m1...-pros.html [barefeats.com]

Suggest focusing on M1 iPad Pros for most uses; it's significantly faster.
No it's not significantly faster, lol. I have an M1 128GB 12.9 and 2020/2019/2018 models 11/12.9 as well. stop the BS. It's not even noticeably faster in the UX either. What is significantly better is the display and when you game (cod mobile) it doesn't dim the display like it does for my 2020/2019 models.

You will be absolutely fine with the 2020 models for a LONG TIME.

There is absolutely no reason ANYBODY should be purchasing the 2020 iPad Pro when the M1 is literally the same price or minimally more expensive. Better processor, more RAM, MUCH better display, more versatile thunderbolt port, etc.

Yes, it is faster - about 20 to 50 percent, according to the benchmarks posted. This is an objective and independent measure, and it's hard to beat for objectivity. If you don't like the benchmark, name another so we can compare.

Define "fine" ? If I can get something 20-50% faster, *and* something that will have another year of Apple support, that has value to me. It's also on the M1, and it's quite possible that Apple will put more OS development dollars onto the M1 vs. the older chips.

Stop moving goalposts. minimally more expensive? I'm not telling you how to spend your money I'm telling you from my own actual experience from owning all of these models. If you can get an M1 for the same price as a 2020 model then that is a steal. Otherwise you are better off saving $200 or more on a 2020 model. The display is indeed better but it's not going to kill your UX overall. You have the low end iPads that sport a NON-LAMINATED display and plenty are fine with that (and the price reflects that as well).

What I'm saying is that this new M1 does not translate into something that is a must get if you already own or want to buy a new iPad with pro-motion display. It's only offered on the 12.9 but I bought the M1 12.9 because I wanted that display. These 2020 model deals are great - of course again I'm restating that if you can score an M1 at this discount then of course you'd go for it. Otherwise don't bother. the 2018-2020 models are just as good.

The RAM? sure if you have tens of apps open. Otherwise the only way you would see a difference is when you encode video and even then it'll save you maybe 30-50% at best. the M1 is completely overkill because iPadOS is just terribly underpowered.

don't base your UX on a benchmark or two. iPadOS is just terribly underpowered and it shows. There was no need for an M1 inside the iPad and there are no apps except for a few video encoding apps that use all that power. The iPad itself has zero competition in this space and it shows because even apple themselves do not know what to do with all that M1 horsepower. the UX is no more fluid than the previous iPads.

Currently 12.9 ipad is priced $200 cheaper. Via chat I was able to get a $100.00 refund plus tax. They will ask for order number and iPad sku number. They apparently can't see it was a bundle. Wouldn't give $200.00 but was happy with $100.00
