I had no issues with the generics. I bought them at the same time as the printer, and installed the generics first in case there were any issues. I would have been able to return the generic toner and/or printer, but everything was good with the ones i got:

Ebay is all flippers and resellers and $50 shipping for printer. It's best to look up "xx brand printer" and don't put laser or the model number because people only name the posts "Brother printer" and don't really know what they have
FWIW.....I was able to see Best Buy had the cdw642 for $220 (bf 2020) and $170 (bf 2019).
I got this for $200 in January since I hadn't seen any recent deals on any with dual-sided scanning&printing. They would have been my top-shelf requests, but couldn't justify adding much more to the cost since we use it infrequently. Wishing i would have pulled the trigger pre-covid.
