I wanted to upgrade to a smart Garage Door opener. Found this Chamberlain 0.5-HP myQ Smart Chain Drive Garage Door Opener with MyQ and Wi-Fi Compatibility for $118, regular price $148.
Installed last week, only replaced the motor on my current setup, and it's great so far.

Oh interesting. I didn't know it could control two garage doors. We just buy another unit and use the sensor on the the other door?

As others have said, be very leery of something this weak (0.5 HP) if you have wooden doors, if the doors are not well balanced, or if the doors don't easily operate manually with little effort.

This! Obviously you know what you are talking about

$128 for the non-smart equivalent 0.5hp Chamberlain chain model at Home Depot. I might recommend that one instead since you can use the $87 installation at HD. If you need myQ, can pick up the hub cheap during the Amazon deals.

Yup, just make sure you buy a model/sensor that is compatible with your hub. The info is in the online manuals. Or if lazy like me, I have the older version of the myQ hub, so I just picked up the same model to harvest the sensor from the box (also saved a few bucks doing that).

Not saying I disagree, but springs do break. Even if garage door open is beefy, it will struggle to open or fail to open a heavy garage door when living off one.
I have had springs break on me twice in the past 10 years. With my hurricane double garage door, my 1HP Genie Excelerator screw drive cannot cut it when down to one spring.
Note: I replace both springs with the higher end ones when one breaks.

Looks like prices are dropping still. I got mine for $90.37 yesterday and another local store dropped theirs to $91.17 this morning.

For the people saying this is garbage and will be too weak, most chain drives are 1/2HP. There are 3/4 HP ones out there, but not many. While this may not lift a gargantuan double door made out of heavy materials, it will lift most garage doors as long if the door has been installed correctly.
In my case, I am replacing a 30 year old 1/2HP Craftsman opener that is dying and I am sure it will have no issue lifting the solid wood door it is attached to that the Craftsman had been lifting multiple times a day for the last 30 years.

I was able to pick up three of them for around $97 each at my Lowe's.

For the most part yes. You will need some punched bracket material to mount it to the ceiling like these, but you may need something longer depending on your setup.

Brackets [lowes.com]

You will also need to make sure you have a 15a 3 prong ( grounded ) outlet in the area so you pan plug it in or you can use an extension cord as long as you run it out of the way of everything.

You will need a light bulb.

You may need a few of blocks of wood for mounting some brackets, depending on your setup.

And of course various tools and a couple of ladders.

I would also recommend getting a keypad, that way you can operate it outside the garage if you don't have your remote/phone on you. I probably use it at least once a week.

Thank you for detailed response.

I don't have a finished ceiling in my garage

I will be having my contractor install it. Just hoping he don't take more than 3 hours.

Tried 3 of them, they work maybe 40% of the time.

There is not much too them. How is your wifi signal strength where the device sits?

My network is Frontier FIOS 500/500, Netgear RBK753 mesh for computers and such, and my old Google Wifi mesh for all 15 smart home devices (outdoor cams, nest thermostat, google mini's, chamberlain, etc). Over kill I know, but too lazy to change all the smart home devices to the new mesh.

As for the chamberlian hub...
Have one in my house, put one in my parents house, and put one in my sisters house. All work with out issue, other than notifications can be a little slow sometimes.

My sisters kids live off their cellphone. They get off the bus and press a button on their smartphone, and poof... the garage magically opens.

My wifes 2020 Camry SE didn't come with homelink (stupid Toyota). Now she says "Ok Google, open the garage" and it opens or she presses the button in the app. No problems there.

Mesh wifi with great coverage maps. It's not that the device doesn't get commands, the device appears to not speak to the motor. I've added, revived lights, removed plastic shells, reconnected, and none of it makes a difference.
