By the way, here are the items I used to make that custom connection from post #2 if anyone is wondering:

B&K 3/4-in x 3/8-in dia Threaded Barb x Garden Hose Adapter Fitting

https://www.lowes.com/pd/B-K-3-4-...1000504791

EZ-FLO 3/8-in ID x 10-ft Reinforced PVC Braided Vinyl Tubing

https://www.lowes.com/pd/EASTMAN-...1000365041

Everbilt 3/8 - 7/8 in. Stainless Steel Hose Clamp

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everb.../206261538
Got one for myself last month and it's been a pretty good unit. No complaints so far.

I put together a 3/8" barb to 3/4" FHT adapter, 3/8" inner diameter braided tubing (doesn't have to be braided) and a tube clamp so I wouldn't need to screw a 3/4" garden hose directly to the drain connector on the back of the dehumidifier. See attached pic.

Dehumidifiers blow out warm air as they dehumidify, FYI. You might not get the cooling effect you're hoping for.
Yea, that's kind of what I thought.

I've seen "Portable Air Conditioners" that's more of what I've (very lukewarmly) been looking at. Although what I've seen are considerably more expensive than this - but that's explained by different uses.

Can drain hose go sump pump at the basement or I better buy the one with pump and pump to outside my house
Mine drains to sump ok. The sump pump should automatically pump out excess water when it gets too high. No need for dehumidifier with extra pump here.

You should get one with a pump feature. It will let you run a hose anywhere, including up into a sink or over the edge of a bath.

If you have a floor drain, shower, or furnace condensation pump you can get by without pump. That is, if you are able to properly navigate gravity.

I just don't see a point in using these in hot humid summer. Better off turning on the AC. The problem with this(someone please tell me I am doing it wrong) is that it blows hot air right back into the space. It reduces humidity but makes the space hot. There's no way to redirect the hot air outside...
I have had this Insignia model for 2 years, no problems so far. I agree with you, it does blow hot air (after 2/3 hours of having the compressor running constantly). However, it reduces humidity much more effectively than the AC. In my basement is takes less than 1 hour to reduce it by 30%.

It depends. If your sump pump already works all the time, better pump to a sink drain or outside. If sump pump only works sometimes, it's probably fine to drain there. It shouldn't add that much water to make it pump all the time. My sump isn't too noisy at all.

I always purchase dehumidifiers from costco. When they break in 2 years, I take them back. Get me a quality product and I wouldnt have to do crap like that.

I'd recommend Frigidaire for long term.

I bought it, thanks.

Question, if this doesn't have a container to catch water, why does it say 50 pt? Does it shut down after doing 50 pt?

Had mine for about 6 months and it's still working fine (fingers crossed). I have it connected to 120V via smartplug and for those wondering, it does revert to the last setting when the smartplug turns it on.

Is this better than the danby at costco for 134.99?
I bought the Costco - physically nearly identical. Same technical spec.
Costco model has both pump and gravity drain capability.

3rd season on this one for me. Fingers crossed. Works like it should. Not like the Frigidaire that crapped out in the 2nd year.(They were so bad they were recalled.)
