Repped!!

Thanks for the help.

I'm guessing we'll be able to keep the phone number when transferring?
Yes. everything is supposed to transfer over to the new SIM. But it is known to fail occasionally. So save the chat transcript and verify what the new balances are after the activation/transfer.

Forgive my ignorance but what's the use case for this plan? Is it for people who almost never use data without wifi?
... or perhaps a phone that is just hardly used at all, not necessarily as your primary phone plan.

At work we have an old flip phone. We take turns carrying it for after hours support calls. It's only actually used a few minutes a month, if that, but needs to be able to receive calls 24/7, away from wifi. This would be perfect for us. (I know there are other solutions involving call-forwarding but this may be even cheaper than those.)

I imagine if you just had an old phone that you wanted to use for emergencies.. like maybe when running or at the beach where you don't want to worry about your primary phone getting lost/damaged.

Can you do it yourself? Or have to contact customer service and tell them you have 3 yearly plans to add into account?

Has anyone bought and try to activate it after a few months and ended up with an empty/non activated card. The reason I asked is because I bought 2 of these from tracfone ebay and 1 of them ended up being empty. I managed to get it activated within the same week but would hate to find out if in 3 months it's empty and tracfone denies my claim.

There have been reports of this in the past, so if you wait too long it could be a gamble because you lose eBay protection... Although, Paypal is like 6 months now for a claim.

In for 3 thanks op
3 for me too! Extending our 3 phones for a year for under $90 can't be beat. I generally just need to add a couple gigs of data throughout the year on my phones and we're good to go!

Limit 1 per buyer?

I bought one this morning, I'm trying to buy a second one and ebay won't let me add it to the cart.

Does anyone that already have this plan managed to order again to add another year?

I am debating.

I can give it to my kid as a first phone. I am against it but my wife wants a phone because a lot of his friends have phones now. I will probably turn off all the data except messaging app so with that 1200 minutes call/text/3gb should last. I have iPhone 6s that I happen to found in drawer. All it needs cheap battery and off it goes.
You understand this is 1200 texts for the whole year = 100 texts a month = 3 texts a day. A kid with friends that have phones will want to text each other all day long. They will probably blow out the quota allotment in a week!

Best case scenario is that they are on WiFi all the time and all their friends are on iPhones and they use iMessage with an Apple ID instead of using their phone number to text. You can limit iMessage to not use cellular SMS text services to make it last. (If it's a green bubble, don't text unless absolutely necessary, blue bubble texts only!)

On the other hand, that 3 gigs a year won't last a few weeks with a kid on YouTube when away from WiFi.

These plans are not kid friendly. If you can teach your kid to keep their fingers off the phone and use it ONLY in emergencies and not burn out the allotments, kudos to you!

These plans are perfect for older parents and grand parents who need an emergency phone when they go out because street payphones have totally disappeared.

$24 is cheap to put an old phone in each cars' gloveboxes along with a mobile charger and have the peace of mind for 12 months.

Tried to order 2, but it wouldn't let me. It said the seller didn't have that many left, but may just be restricted, not sure.

I bought it 4 months ago from same seller. I just bought 1, but tried to change the quantity to 2 & it said seller didn't have that many left. I was able to order 1 this time, tho.

I bought a straightalk iphone SE back in 2018 and never activated service, meaning the phone is still locked. Which service should I select of the 3 to make it work with that phone?
Straight talk uses the Verizon network. I expect rep points for this valuable intel.

My family uses this as a "home phone" that we can also take on road trips and hikes as a backup. We have digital copies of insurance cards and emergency contacts stored on the phone in case anyone needs them.
We use the phone itself as an IOT remote with cellular connectivity. It's signed into all of our streaming and smart home services. Wife likes having it around in the kitchen.
