I saw BB with open-box excellent LG CX 77 for $2185, decided to go in to test my luck.
There was a fair condition (usually missing stand, power cable, or remote) for $1960 at a different store.

asked nicely to power on the TV. He was very kind, pulled it out of the box and plugged it in for me. It showed 0 hour used!!!!

I kindly asked the rep if he can check with the manager to see if he can lower the price.
The manager came out, he said, it's going to be hard b/c this is heavily discounted already. He then asked if I would buy the protection plan, I said "sure, if it's not too expensive". He then dropped the price by $185 to $2000, the protection plan for 2 years was $240 (extra $55 for 2 years of protection.

I went ahead and bought it. So I basically got a brand new LG OLED CX 77 for $2240 with 2 years protection or $2185 w/o Good luck hunting!!!

There's some available at the Best But Outlet in San Rafael, CA (zip code 94901). If I didn't already score a 65" C9 last year in a similar deal, I would be all over this.

Thank you for the hint. This was a helpful tip in order just to see how much room for movement there is. I am hunting for a 77' G1 model discount. Thus far the best one is just $200 off. I am waiting for below $4k around BF. I checked the stores around me and found GX 77' Certified Excellent ($3,035) and Excellent ($2,903). Was thinking about going to the store to check, but figured I will just wait for BF for now. Thanks again! Good deal you got in any case.

Take a look at some reviews. You may be surprised how similar the CX and G1 are.

There is a "fair" condition near me. Is that even worth my time?

Definitely worth at least checking out. My C9 was listed in "fair" condition last year but it's fine, save for a few scratches on the back. Definitely get the warranty though, as it covers burn-in, which is an issue with these TVs that are on all the time.

Definitely. Also a lot depends on each particular unit. I have watched a number of comparisons, including the most trusted one from the guy whom I have been following for years - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8ERtNKo8fs

Definitely extremely similar, but BF is around the corner. I have an older non-120hz 65'-only LG OLED as a daily driver that is a bit older but still very snappy. I figured I will just wait a bit more, keep checking GT daily and something will come along. I am fine with just a bit over $500 discount, so 3900ish plus tax is good enough for me.

Just a heads up. Dead pixels will not be covered by manufacturer. If there are more than 2 stuck and or 2 dead pixels, then bestbuy would have sent it back themselves to be replaced. They sell the stuck/dead pixel models as fair/good condition.

Yeah I didn't go OLED but I did buy an open box fair TV and it's in good condition. Was cheaper than a brand new model even though I purchased a five year warranty for it.

Yes! Probably means it was a floor model and it may not include anything other than the TV and power cord. If it has no accessories, you can negotiate with them to knock some more money off of it, even if it is listed as fair.

Ask them nicely to turn it on, and then you can check for BI and banding. I looked at a 65" CX that was still on the wall a couple months back that had a little less than 5500 hours on it. They had it listed as fair. I ran all the tests on it and it looked perfect!

The G1's included burn in warranty puts it over the top. But since he's looking at the 77", the C1 uses the Evo panel too. None of the benefits or the warranty, but it's comforting to know the C1 still has the Evo panel

Between the BX and CX lines is there a huge difference? I am seeing A7 vs A9 processor which may be a big deal (unsure). Can't find much else and both get rave reviews on Rtings.com. I mainly ask because the 65" BX is available and the CX is not so much

*edit*
Looks like a big negative vs the CX at least on Rtings is that it may not get as bright. Also it mentions stutter with naturally low fps content, but I'm not sure if the Cx has no issues with that or not.
I can't speak to the chips but as for the RTINGS and the brightness I have an LG C9 (previous year version) and it is PLENTY bright for me. I don't see why some people knock the brightness of OLEDs. Do they watch tv with sunglasses on? All I'm saying is, I wouldn't sweat the brightness issue. Oled is best picture you can buy and I love my tv

Can you be more specific about the test and how you ran them? It would be good to know how to do it, if an open box TV pops up in my area.

Agreed - what tests did you run and do they just pull it up in customer service and let you run tests?

Normally, there is a good reason why someone bought and returned the TV. Did you make sure there was no DSE, burn-in, dead pixels and stuck on pixels?
