I know people hate it when someone suggests separate speakers with AVR setup, for the actual 5.1 setup. But whoever getting this, hope they know what they're getting into. Don't buy this for 5.1 reason alone, because no matter whatever the magic they do, this won't give you an actual 5.1.

So if you don't want to deal with the "wires and chaos" of an AVR setup, I would recommend to get a 2.1 (or 3.1) sound bar. It's going to be same as this 5.1.

I'm a little amazed that this is getting more support than the costco SN7Y for $300 last week, which includes the wireless surround back. Reflective atmost is still not good no matter what so it is surprising to see people wanting to pay an extra $150 for marginal (if at all) "better" sound.

Sn9yg($450) or sn7r($300) ?

Is there a big difference in sound?

Sn9yg does not come with rear speakers, while sn7r does.

I dont have a space for rear speakers at this time, but i may install rears in the future.. which one should i go for?

I have LG SL9YG with my Samsung Q900 TV. The sound bar does not switch to ARC from Wifi mode (Google Assistant mode, when TV is off). It actually turn off the sound bar, I have to go to TV settings to switch to output or use LG remote to turn on the sound bar.

one big advantage i believe of the sn9yg is airplay2 connectivity if that is important to you.

Why should price matter if this fits someone's use-case? They cater to different audiences.
Alright, aside from ease of setup, what does this offer over a set of speakers? I'm just sayin it's really not that difficult to setup speakers and you get a much better bang for your buck

Definitely agree with this statement here. IMO soundbars and dedicated AVR surround sound systems cater to different audiences.

If you're an audiophile with a proper theater setup and deep pockets, a nice AV receiver with fancy surround speakers and woofers can't be beat.

However, if you're in the 98% and you're just looking to get quality sound in your living room with minimal fuss, a soundbar with wireless rears is the way to go.

I replaced an old proper 7.1 system (Onkyo receiver and a mix of Sony/Polk speakers) with a LG SN10YG soundbar plus the SPK8 rears and honestly love it. The sound quality is about 85-90% as good with none of the bulk or wires. Plus the soundbar is CEC compliant so it turns on and off with the TV, has built-in casting for music and Google Assistant (which can be disabled), and probably most importantly, has two HDMI passthrough ports (just like an AVR) so I can hook up my Switch and PS4 directly to the soundbar and run a single HDMI eARC connection to my TV (LG GX).

How did you add speaker especially off brand speakers speaker to the sn10yg if The sound bar can only let you add the spq8 satellite?? How you get around adding more speakers I have the LG Sn9yg I wondering if I can add more speaker if possible
