Novice here, can anyone compare it with a miwaukee 18v M18 impact driver/drill?
I need to buy some tools for long term home DIY stuff
Will it be enough for typical home tasks?

It's 12v, too heavily invested in D's 20v and in M12 lines to add another battery in the mix.

Yea I really want a stubby setup but I got a ton of DeWalt 20v, I really don't want to start a whole new line up just for the stubby

M18 is the best. I work in construction management, we have pretty much every tool from most brands and M18 is hands down all around the best. I have dewalt 20v at home and it performs great but M18 is better.

People who say otherwise are probably to invested in a different platform, loyal to something else, or haven't used M18.

Ps this is coming from a dewalt fan boy

You'd be better off getting into the M12 line, especially with the Home Depot deal hacks. I like dewalt and am heavily invested in their 20v line but the Milwaukee 12v line is far superior to other 12v lines. My only gripe is the wider grip on the m12 because of the battery style but I have small hands so others may not care.

If you are a weekend warrior diy person just looking for occasional use I would highly suggest either the Bosch or Skil 12v set instead. Half the price for 3/4(estimate) the performance. I also have the Bosch set and it's very capable, in fact I grabbed it more often than my 20v. I just couldn't pass up the m12 deals.

DEWALT being all scammy with their 20V line. Marketing to the people that think their "20v" tool has more power then their 18v counterpart.

Battery range is 15v->21v max.

Dewalt's 20v together with their Flexvolt line is superior to M18 for sure, but the M12 line is unbeatable for the weight and portability, so I own Dewalt's 20v and Flexvolt tools but find myself using my M12 tools most of the time. The thing is that Dewalt's tools are frequently on some crazy sale, but Milwaukee's tools are seldom on sale.

You can use your same Dewalt charger for both batteries. If you can't with the one you own, the charger in this bundle does both. So these batteries will work will these tools and you can charge everything you already own

The Torque Test Channel on YouTube has the DCF901 beating the M12 Fuel and also ranked it above an M18 compact impact.

Depends on the level of work you plan to do. If light around the house work, like hanging pictures, assembling furniture or drilling less than 1/2 inch holes, the 12v will be good enough and not as heavy as 18v. I actually keep a 12v around for this kind of stuff because sometimes the 18v caused damage for small tasks. That said, I tried to run a 1/4 inch lag bolt into a stud with it and it started smoking. So if you want to do framing or major renovations, M18 or equivalent will be necessary.

Using the 'hack' I bought this $138.73 Milwaukee M12 combo for my brother and he loves it. https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/t/15200455
