Yeah, not exactly snappy. The processor has its weak points, but is the trade off at this low price for this extremely light little "take along" road warrior with an actual keyboard. The processor bogs down completely, for instance, in the extreme instance of "restore pages" when it is faced with opening the 8-10 tabs I had open. Keeping this in mind, try it out, as it is an actual steal at this price. I'm quite happy with mine, for what it is.
I wouldn't call it "snappy." I had one of these for a day before returning it. It was too slow even for basic web browsing.
🤷 ♂️ well it is my wife's. My time with it I was impressed for the cost. Opening multiple apps and changing between them there was no lag for me. Ymmv

This or Lenovo flex 3 at $179?
I'm returning the flex to get the duet. I wanted to use the flex as tablet because of the microsd slot for extra storage but it's awkward to hold because I keep hitting the keyboard buttons when I hold it. I like the many ports 2 USB and 2 usbc AND microSD slot for expanding storage. The duet only has a single USB c and NO microsd slot. If your using the flex 3 as a conventional laptop most of the time it's a good buy and well built. If you plan on using it as a handheld tablet I wouldn't recommend it because of the weight and clicking the keyboard buttons ( even though the keyboard is disengaged in tablet mode ,I'm concerned of long term damage to the keys when grabbing it in tablet mode)

I have this one at home, it's nice and snappy.
Snappy compared to what …a netbook of the last decade ?
Pretty sluggish if you are used to any modern tech.
This model model was direct to budget student with one task/tab at a time.
Good build quality but nothing snappy in here and it's $200.

The screen on this auto dims. EVERY time you restart it, you have to manually make it bright enough to read. I bought this unit last December at BB for $189 and have a trouble ticket in to Lenovo for this issue. No one seems to have a solution that doesn't kill the battery (that "solution " is to not have the screen turn off when it's left unattended.)

Why does the Duet always get so much praise? Is it just the presence of the keyboard? Why is it much better than a regular 10 inch amazon tablet? I have a 4gb 10 inch amazon tablet. Is it worth to get a satisfactory condition for $150?

I got in on the EDU S7 deal earlier. Assuming I can sell the headphone, how is it compare to this deal? I know the S7 does not come with keyboard, after selling the headphone, the price is close

I have the same issue on 2 other Chrome OS devices. Seems that it might be a "feature".

Because it's more than a tablet, it's a Chromebook. The Amazon tablets aren't even good Android tablets, unless you're completely committed to the Amazon ecosystem.

Chrome OS IMHO is a lot nicer than Fire OS. I have an Amazon Fire tablet too and it's really annoying to do anything other than browse the web. You can side load the Google play store but it's fiddly and there's a ton of other junk Amazon preloads which force you to do even more fiddly things to clean it up and be usable (and then you have to do it all again whenever the tablet updates).

Chrome OS gives you all Android apps on google play store. It gives you a great Chrome browser experience. It even gives you Linux apps for more advanced use (a lot of things you can't even do on android like development and coding are totally fine on Chrome OS + Linux apps).

Def the versatility of it. There are alot more features on a chromebook then a android tablet. Also updates are a big factor, the chromebook sector is booming right now with somewhere like 275% sale year to year. Partly because covid also.

The specs look pretty good for a Chromebook. The 14" display with only 1366x768 resolution is going to look pretty crappy though.

Great deal...bought this when it first came out. Take it with me when I have to travel. I use it to RDP to windows box if I need windows or use the Linux built in for ssh telnet and vpn. It's a google chromebook/tablet. Google apps and chrome OS is used in most education for HS and College. Supports a USi stylus and android apps too... Great screen and build quality. $200 new is pretty good for NEW 128 gig version.

Was reading a post about this product on reddit from 5 days ago and a few of the comments don't inspire much confidence to me.

https://www.reddit.com/r/chromeos...orth_it_a/

im torn between this and the $300 ipad coming out tomorrow.
