you do NOT want to skimp on a dishwasher and whirlpool is definitely the brand that will help you do that
47dba is slightly above average loudness, not really quiet by today's standards. See 39dba models out there that run $800-$1200 for "extreme quiet". 44dba is "standard quiet"
Go KitchenAid 204 or Bosch 300.
Unless it's a rental or you don't care for electronics, then a $300 ge easy to fix and runs fine.

We purchased one of these. Love the dishwasher but be wary of their install service. I'm sure most go smoothly but mine leaked into the area between my flooring and subfloor. I didn't notice until hours later when it started showing signs. I had to really push to get them to send the installer out ASAP (they said 3-5 business days) and when they came out they mysteriously found nothing. The leak also stopped after the visit. Costco would not respond to my calls about the damaged floor afterward.

Delivery service (separate subcontractor) was perfect on-time, polite, and efficient.

Just one experience.

I have this same model and did install myself. They test these at the factory so the hoses leak when hooking up. My guess is the installers just didn't clean up their mess and it was a one time thing.

I purchased this the last time this was on slick deals and I wouldn't do it again. In the future, for a major appliance like this, I would spend the time and money to get 'the right' DW for my needs. This may be a ok value at $500, but i don't know if it's as good of a value as it might seem. it has several features that are desirable, but are actually frustrating and potentially hazardous.

3RD RACK
The 3rd rack is basically useless. It's hard to imagine what they were thinking people would be able to do with it. You can't actually stand silverware on edge up on it (like on every other 3rd rack I've seen), but they also include some very short nubby tines to give the illusion this is possible? You can lay things flat but the top doesn't get washed. If this is a feature you expect to work, you can basically forget it. The alternative is a door silverware basket that's almost serviceable, but not nearly very good IMO.

DISH RACKS
This one is frustrating as well as the most unforgivable design decision because making it better doesn't seem like it would cost more.

The rack arrangement basically doesn't work for my dishes. I also can't picture what dishes it would be good for. The metal tines are spaced awkwardly far apart for individual plates wether they be thick or thin. The tines are also spaced too narrow for bowls. This isn't just about spacing though. There isn't any bend or articulation in any of the tines at all. Not even a section for a group of plates, etc. This mean bowls and plates don't sit well and fall over often clashing in such a way that water can't get in there during a cycle.

THE SPINNING WASH ARM
The lower spinning wash arm several times would stop spinning for seemingly no reason (resulting in a failed wash with gunk all over dishes). Manually spinning the wash arm with just the slightest flick of your finger it all it would take unjam it.

The wash arm also attaches to the basin of the dish washer with a 1/4 turn of a central knob without any sort of reassuring click. this for whatever reason managed to wiggle itself loose during a wash cycle and the wash arm, which is made of plastic & metal fell onto the heating element in the basin and melted. This occurred during an overnight wash and so at 2am During the dry cycle and our entire house filled with a noxious plastic smell while we slept that was strong enough to wake us and then to linger in carpets and curtains for several days afterwards.

Whirlpool replaced the damaged arm and in only a few cycles later (after compulsively checking each time) I noticed that the arm had started to wiggle itself loose again!

Recently it seems to have been consistently staying on (it must know I'm watching), but I have to be vigilant about this potential issue, which is ridiculous.

THE CONTROLS
Oh, and The touch screen top controls don't work well. They constantly misread what is pressed or won't read when you press them. My wife hates the dishwasher for this reason alone.

TO SUMMARIZE
- the 3rd rack is useless (remove it)
- the dish racks are poorly designed meaning bad washes and inefficient loading
- the wash arm (for me at least) is finicky and a source of anxiety
- the controls are finicky
- IMO the manufacturer knows about all of these issues. This combined with the listed features is why this is an attractive sale item–for them.
Here's my two cents on a similar model.

3RD RACK
Super handy for things like Cooking Utensiles (Spatulas, Spoons, etc). Great place to put large knives (Chef Knife). And convenient place to put baby bottle pieces (nipple and lid). If I ever need more room on the bottom shelf, I can pull out the utensil rack and just place my silverware on the 3RD rack. It definitely washes up there.

DISH RACKS
I've had no problem figuring out how to lay out my dishes. The spacing you complain about is actually very nice for us as when mixing our ceramic plats and our kids plates, I don't have to worry about the plates leaning up against each other due to the different plate shapes. In my previous dishwasher, I had to make sure all my kids plates were sitting on the left side of all the ceramic plates, or else they would lean up against each other. Zero issues with water not getting inside the cups/bowls. In fact this does such a good job cleaning that the coffee/tea stains that my previous dishwasher left behind are starting to go away with each cycle.

SPINNING WASH ARM
No comments here other than it works as expected.

TOP CONTROLS
Works every time for me. I just press CYCLE and START and close the door. The only littlest complaint I have is the timer is tucked away, making it hard to see how much time is left without having to bend over and peek between the gaps. But that's irrelevant as the most important thing is the light indicator in front let's you the status of the wash cycle.

We all have a different experience, don't let one good review or bad review sway your decision.

The best way I've found is to call a Costco in your area, give them the item #, and they can check stock of the other Costcos around you
Anyone have the item number?

Agreed. However, we have found a detergent by Melaleuca, called Diamond Brite. You can find them as a non-member on eBay. I've compared this stuff to all the good brands and none work as well as this one. No slime - and beats even the phosphate containing stuff I've tried.
Add phosphates back into your detergent. My tea stained glasses became clear again once I started adding a scoop of this stuff to my dishwasher loads.

I thought knives shouldn't go in the washer, unless you want to ruin them?

I had bought this same dishwasher on 7/27/2021. Submitted a price adjustment claim and Costco honored it. Thanks OP for highlighting this deal!
