I have two of these devices and I absolutely love Android TV and this device is a great value but yes, it locks up on me all the time. I'm constantly having to unplug it and plug it back in order to get it working again.
Have you tried a different power supply (higher voltage) and diff usb cable????

I have one of these and it works way better than my integrated android tv in my TCL that kept freezing. Only issues are CEC and power button not turning off the TV but that might be a TV issue

So the gamepass app needs to be sideloaded. Controls were a bit wonky but couldve been the game I was playing.

Wish this have USB port so I can steam my downloaded contents 😓
A workaround to that would be to upload your video to a cloud service like Google drive and use a file management app like file commander to access said video.

Have you tried running it through the remote programming?

I have the Dynalink version which is a pass even at 20 bucks. Mine would inexplicably freeze and need to be hard reset at least twice a week. Went back to the trusty Fire Stick 4K and no more issues aside from the crappy Amazon UI.

EDIT: software makes all the difference. With the latest update, this one seems unaffected by the headaches that plague its Dynalink twin.

How long ago was this? As soon as I unboxed it there was a software update and I've been using it ever since. No stutters, lags, or freezing of any kind.

I also have this box paired with an Onn tv that I picked up last year during black friday and this remote could not power off the tv. Which i thought was weird since the box and the tv were of the same brand ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Is this better than roku express 4k?

Depends on the apps you're using. Some apps aren't available on Roku and are available on Android TV. My TV came with a Roku built in but I prefer to use Android since I have the ability to side load apps.
