I have two of these devices and I absolutely love Android TV and this device is a great value but yes, it locks up on me all the time. I'm constantly having to unplug it and plug it back in order to get it working again.

Basically means that you can designate which apps are forced to use the VPN connection and which do not. As VPN is slower than a direct connection, that way those apps that work fine without VPN can avoid slowing down unnecessarily.

Some apps don't work if connected to a VPN. Prime Video is a common one, HBO Max is another. Split tunneling allows you to leave the VPN on 24/7 but will connect to apps you tell it to with bypassing the VPN and using your current location. Different VPN providers call it different things. IPVanish calls it split tunneling and it's found in the settings of the VPN app. It's much easier to do it this way then having to turn the VPN on or off depending on what app you're using.

If you have one of these, could you please test something for me? Try downloading episodes to watch offline. Our wifi turns off for 1/3 of the day, and I'd like to be able to watch HBO Max and Disney+ episodes when offline. (& I could take it 'camping' as well)

Get a Firestick 4K Max and install a custom launcher, if you wish.

It's more portable, powerful, and it's easy to add storage.

Bought one yesterday to run emulators. Device updated to latest FW during setup. Been running for 12hrs. No freezing so far. Not bad for $19 bucks.

It's not a fair comparison though, as you can get almost 3 of these for the price of 1 Fire TV Stick 4K Max. Also you don't have to sideload/manually update app like Kodi since it's in Play Store.

Has anyone tried using these for cloud gaming? Any thoughts there? I'm trying to find a device to run shadow (in addition to IPTV and plex) and would prefer paying $20 for this over shelling out $150 for the nvidia shield.

Also thinking about that $40 tivo or $50 chromecast, but if this is cheaper for the same functionalities, why not right.

Never freezes on me, unlike the Tivo Stream 4K .

I have a feeling this could be as good as the GCCWCTV if they enable all the video hardware stuff in the firmware but its locked or disabled for some reason.
