I have two of these devices and I absolutely love Android TV and this device is a great value but yes, it locks up on me all the time. I'm constantly having to unplug it and plug it back in order to get it working again.

thanks. installed from the play store tonight and all is well. now i really like this thing. got amazon, netflix, apple, hbomax, peacock, dish anywhere, plutotv, tubi, youtube, and paramount plus all working perfectly. might try to get a couple more to replace aging fire tvs...and yes i know we have a streaming problem.

I had sound issues as well. Not the same as you, as the sound would just stop for me if left it sitting. I think I resolved my issue with a new HDMI cable. Might be worth a shot for you as well.

I got so sick of my 4 year old Shield not responding well to commands from the remote since day one, that I unplugged the damn thing when I tried out this Onn. I am over the shield, so it will stay unplugged now. Maybe this Onn remote would work better for the shield if it comes down to it and the Onn isn't up to the task of working as my primary device long term. We will see. I absolutely hate the Shield remote.

Price adjusted tivo 4k for 15$. I am super happy with it. It has extra usb c port and dolby atmos and dolby vision support and cannot argue with this price.

Found a couple in my local Walmart for $7. Brickseek has them listed for $10 or $15 at several other Walmarts as well. Get the Tivo if you can find it for $7.

The Tivo is almost the same experience as the Onn and it includes a USB-C port in addition to the Micro-usb port..The Onn is definitely faster and I like the remote layout better even though it's made of a cheaper plastic than the Tivo's. Onn has the updated Android TV interface and it's running Android 10.
