Newegg's site doesn't make it easy to tell if this is new/refurb/etc.

The easiest way I have found is to scroll down to "More Buying Options" and find the seller and then you can see (this one, sold directly from Newegg, claims to be "NEW").

What is the difference between the WD easystore 5TB portable that is currently selling for 90 dollars and this Newegg WD Black 5tb p10 portable that is selling for 105 dollars. (both charge tax for me).

So,15 dollar difference. I think I prefer Best Buy since it will have xmas return policy (Jan 15th 2022), and also BF price match.

What is your experience with both of these drives.

Dealing with Newegg is a nightmare. Those easystore drive work very well. Never tried a black drive.

are these drives fast enough to play VR games streamed over virtual desktop to quest 2 or better to keep on SSD

Not quite sure about your exact question, however, I am currently using this on my ps5 to hold games. I notice the transfer speeds feel a lot slower than my older plugged in WD 4TB, which I find weird as the black series is supposed to be faster.

it's not eBay, anything Newegg sells is NEW unless specifically marked refurb or open box, just like most retailers (marketplace is another matter)

I would only play vr games from an international (preferably ssd) drive or a USB C external drive. This appears to be USB 3.0 of some sort and may work fine but I would only recommend it for normal games

I've got an older version of this drive. I used it on my Xbone for a while, worked fine there. Now I just use it as a portable drive for my various computers, works great for that.

Do you have this plugged into the rear USB ports which are higher speed rather than the slower front one?

These drives are not shuckable, does not include a SATA interface and the USB control board is soldered on.
