Good luck actually getting it if you order from dot com. Some of us are still in "delayed" status without shipping/tracking updates on $1000 PCs ordered at the beginning of the month. I'm not posting this to bash Walmart, I'm just posting this to open some eyes to supply/shipping issues, Walmart's selling practices (selling inventory they don't have), and to suggest finding one in-store if at all possible if you really want one.

Additional 5% off using Chase Freedom CC.

I suppose, with any integrated graphics, the gaming performance is modest @ 1080p. Still, with the ability to go up to 64 GBs RAM and a large-ish out-of-box NVMe, this is a pretty good deal for an affordable all-arounder. Applause

I wonder if we use PayPal to buy stuff, if the credit card companies will honor extended warranties, accidental damage, or price matching.

Good on you for finding an alternative. I couldn't with the same exact specs. Building an i7 with the same specs increased the price.

A quick look at the specs show (differences):
  • No DP port
  • HDMI spec (1.4b vs 2.0)
  • NVMe size (256 vs 512)
  • RAM (8 vs 16)
  • Additional microsSD port
  • Better speakers (B&O) (?)

https://support.hp.com/us-en/docu...57254#AbT0

VS

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c07548789

Regardless, I'd buy the 64 GBs of RAM to replace whatever came with it. SD had a deal a few days ago for $210 I think (?). I'd go with the larger NVMe, as that system would have 512 GB NVMe, DP* and additional microSD slot.

*who doesn't like DP?! Wink

I'm sure he means the 4700U. Can't blame the guy, the Zen architecture not lining up with the numerical model numbers can be really confusing.

Also, Ryzen 5700u CPU is basically a 4th gen 4800u or so because its built on last gen technology

I mean this in the nicest way…

We have HP laptops at work that cost almost double the price of their consumer versions, and they are awful. We tend to go them every 2 years due to failing parts, but at least those have 3 year warranties.

With that being said, just imagine how cheap they go with a consumer version, that does not have that same warranty. This might be best just being a used only at home.
Must just be varied by experience. I have not had any problem at all with any of my HP laptops and i have a half dozen over the last 8 years. all consumers grade...lol...Then again i guess just varied with your luck?

I got the 4500u version of this laptop from Walmart last year. Everybody said it wouldn't have a keyboard backlight, but it does. Everything else seems to be identical between this laptop and my own.

But no, I don't know for sure
This was one of the BEST BF laptop deal last year. I bought 6 and everyone i sent one to has been a happy camper, even the ones that got one without the backlit keyboard. The earlier manufactured ones are the one with the backlit keys. This is the color that you want to get the best experience with backlit keys also. You want a darker background key (black or dark blue like this) not silver or white keyboard. We will have to get our hand on one to see if there is one this year.

But this $600 current price is definitely not a bargain. This need to be $400 or less and hopefully it will be by BF? If this gets down to less than $400, I will definitely upgrade mine to this!

One of the best laptop deal last BF definitely. I second that!. The specs are right on and includes just about everything you want in a lightweight cheap 15in laptop. The case is actually not cheap plastic but a lightweight metallic alloy

Not comparable at all! that case is completely different and is a completely different class! And i bet that the features on the office depot are completely outclassed by the WM one!

Semi glossy.

Seems to be the lowest price retail for a solid x86 8-core laptop. Refurbished models are typically at Micro Center for $50 cheaper. Not bad, but nothing truly amazing for the price.

Good luck!

Have mine ready for pick up. Thanks! May not open it for a few weeks just in case another deal pops up
Let us all know about if the keyboard is backlit or not. That is actually the MOST IMPORTANT information we need. You can return even when the box is open so that shouldn't be a problem at all with WM.

Actually i might decide to get one myself just to see if keyboards are backlit....lol...

Not sure will that happen. Recent Ryzen 7 5700U laptop deals are around $700. Walmart Black Friday ad lists only i3 and i5 HP laptops @ $279 and $379 correspondingly with less storage (256 GB).

But if you find one, please post/share.

Maybe.... however, if i recall correctly, last year BF ver with the 4500u regular price was around $580-600 also before they cut the price to $380. So one can only hope? ....lol...
At $600, this is just a normal deal... Good specs but nothing that would make me run out to get one to upgrade from my HP 4500u (and 4700u which I also got into that HP deal from last BF)

What is the main difference between this laptop and the one here: https://slickdeals.net/f/15349900-lenovo-thinkbook-15-g3-14-g3-fhd-ips-touch-ryzen-7-5700u-16gb-ddr4-512gb-pcie-ssd-win10-pro-719-95?src=SiteSearchV2Algo

In terms of internal specs I mean. Is it just the 16 gb ram? I don't need touchscreen so if that's all, I could just stick with the HP and get a 8 gb stick

My experience with lenovo was bad with fast degrading battery and heat.
