Final price after all the CB & $25 reward from Lenovo around: $606.67
Thanks all.

Yep, touchscreen along with a stylus is a must. Unforunately, chromebook doesn't seem to run too friendly with a lot of apps that I will be using.

Awesome, now debating if I should wait till black friday or pull the trigger. Most likely buy now and think later. laugh out loud
Is the touch because you want to use a stylus?

External Wacom-type things work very well.

If not, I suggest looking for a "dell inspiron chromebook 14 7486" - Why?? It has WACOM EMR Battery-less Stylus built-in. On ebay, people are giving them away imo. It has one of the best screens 100%+ sRGB, and VERY color accurate I've seen on any reasonably priced device. I have 5 of these to do what I need to do in the remote world. They are all 8th gen i3 processors. I bought them all on ebay for about $200 each for an all-aluminum build.

I think the +$60 E15 is actually the model with only 512gb SSD. The E15 model (20YG003HUS) with the 1TB SSD is indeed showing +$170 for me too.
Edit to add: But for +$60 I would totally consider the Thinkpad over this Thinkbook deal with similar specs due to the better battery life.
Thinkpad any day but no touchscreen on the E15, right? Confused

Why not use other 10% cashback website as well? Will that work on top of slickdeals 12% CB?
You'll get cashback from only one site. On that note, how reliable is SD CB? Unsure

I got the 14 inch version. Here's some info for those who are interested:

Aluminum casing feels nice. I like the keyboard as well, except for 1) the backlight isn't auto-on or off; 2) the ring around the power button is always lit during operation.

Biggest disappointments for me are the screen with the washed out colors, which I also have to use at max brightness in a well lit room, and the battery life which only provides ~5 hours (Windows' estimate) of normal use. Also noticed the CPU easily reach 80°C on the first day of use, and the M.2 SSD reach 63°. Don't know what to make of that.

Have yet to test the speakers and all the different ports so can't comment on those yet. Ultimately I'm still looking around for other options. I think that if the Yoga 6 shows up in the same config I'll buy that and return this, despite the fact that the Yoga is smaller, glossy, and not aluminum. At least it's got 100% sRGB and good battery life. At this price range you've got to make compromises, I suppose.

I ended up ordering the Thinkpad E15 because:

- no 4 month wait
- only a small increase in price
- Thinkpad > Thinkbook
- can have 1tb drive instead of 512gb
Awesome. Thank you for the response.

Anyone else who received their laptop have problem with their Ethernet port? Mine doesn't seem to open wide enough to insert the cable.
It is a tight fit but it will connect. I had to pry it open a little with the end of the cable getting the bottom part with the clip in first then the square end fit. The Ethernet port was one of the bigger reasons I went with this deal!

How is this compared to this deal from Costco for $650? Apart from the HDD difference.

I contacted them today through chat to see if they had any updates since mine says 4+ months and I will not wait that long. They said it's one of their top sellers and it is being assembled in an overseas facility and will be sent as soon as ready. That's not any type of real info on date of shipment. They asked if I would like to talk to a sales representative that could offer me a comparable item that would ship sooner which I said yes to. It was a complete waste of time and honestly a little ridiculous. They don't show you laptops that can ship now with comparable specs they only offer laptops that can ship now that have a similar price point after the discounts you used and none added to these laptops. They showed me a Thinkpad 15 inch generation 2 with intel processor with half the threads and cores, no extra bay for storage, and a max of 16 gig of memory. I asked if that was why they were offering me lower specs and they said that was their only option and they recommend I keep my purchase or find a better deal and cancel. Frustrating to say the least.

Ha the page now says 3+ month shipping time. I ordered mine on the 26th and my status page still says 4+ months. There are a lot of good deals out there and I have been tempted to cancel to get one in a reasonable time but nothing has won me over yet and I have hope Lenovo just sucks at updating their order statuses.

Regarding brightness, install the Radeon software from AMD and then you'll see there is a setting called AMD varrybeight which tries to adjust the brightness, color and contrast automatically, causing those issues. Try to switch that off and see that difference. There are couple of other settings to play as well. Obviously, it's not going to be a premium laptop level display even after that, but will be better than what you see.
