Classic toy that I had many hours of fun with during my childhood. As an adult, it also has some interesting uses.
For example, you can use it to protect your bird feeders from squirrels (see attached pic).

Waste of money. I bought it last time thinking how bad could it be. The thing is useless for anything except to bounce it off one hand to another. Can't go down the stairs and it leaves metal residue on your hands when you use it. Kids would need to wash their hands after using this thing and have no idea if that residue is safe or not. Apparently we can have all the gadgets in the world but a farking slinky is where we have brainfarts.

Great for bird feeders and crafts, but lame as a kid's toy. Too small for most stairs.

Many years ago (when the earth's crust was still cooling), my high school science teacher had our class go out in the hallway mid-period, and stretch a slinky out on the floor with a student on each end. We then saw how reflected waves work. Best lab ever.

As for walking down stairs, I never was never impressed with slinkies.
