The required tab is hidden from lower level Best Buy employees. If they can't find it, a more senior level associate or manager needs to login to see it.

^^re this suggestion: A basic employee at the counter had not even heard of this program (even though it has been ongoing for months). He could not find it following the (previously provided here in the wiki) instructions on where to look. He called the manager, who told him they have never been able to complete this process. Next ,the counter guy was trying to pass the buck back to me to go online and look for a mail-in trade-in your storage item option, or call 800-Bestbuy. (FYI there is not even any proper automated option to get to a human that I could work out. So after a couple of dead-end attempts, I picked sales to try to get to a human and was on hold for a while, refreshed this page and then saw this new suggestion.
Then I advised counter person that a management-level employee may need to login to see the option.
Moments later the management-level guy still had no luck finding it trying the methods already mentioned in this wiki.
Bottom line is while I was still on hold, the manager advised the counter person to give me a manual 15% off of a WD drive and I bought it. I would have preferred to have it shipped and use the coupon online and access extra cashback available. This way was still an equivalent for an either/or situation with the savings up-front instead of later with CB sites (10% + 5% as detailed in the thread somewhere).

I hate how these trade-in offers @BB are often impossible to work out for their employees. No one communicates how to do them to the stores, apparently. Even after having these for many years, it is always a gamble to show up to try, based on who you end up getting at the counter, or else not even the management knows.

There is no stated end date on the recycle and save promo but the discount voucher has a valid date of 8/8/21 to 01/29/23 so get the voucher and bank it for the next 15 months.

I know this because I bought a 5-bay Synology DS1019+ with a quad core processor, but it is a lower power CPU. Going backwards and forwards through 1080p content was slow and painful, especially if there were subtitle overlays or anything that the NAS also had to render. Eventually I gave up and just turned a windows laptop we had as the sever and granted it access to the media folders on the NAS.
For someone who doesn't frequent BestBuy very often, and has never done a store pickup there, what's the actual procedure in the store when one brings in an old drive? Do I take the old drive to some customer service counter and get a coupon printed out that I then bring to the checkout line (or store pickup counter, if they have such a thing)?
Or do I just bring the old drive to the checkout/store pickup line right away and they will sort it out?
I see people have picked orders up from the store already it'll be nice to have some confirmation

when I got the 5tb portable SD they 1st hadn't heard of it so I directed them to their own website..., then they couldn't figure out how do to the coupon... they just did manual override to take 15% off for me
and for those that got a physical coupon from the recycle program.... how long is coupon good for? i'd like to go do the recycle offer now and use it online later
WD 5400rpm are very very slow. I have both WD and Seagate drives running in my server. Transfer speed is below 100m/s for WD, while Seagate is over 200m/s. Transferring 100gb of data or more from nvme drives.
Its good for both.
Brought a friend and 2x USB drives to BB, out of the door in ~20 min. Thankfully a store rep knew about the promo (which they only heard about earlier today, I guess another slickdealer did the same promo at the store) and I was able to get two coupons printed for 15% each. At ~$13/TB after tax, this is about as good as it gets this year (unless BB has even better sale on WD drive for BF/CM).
CS did mention that since it's recycle instead of trade-in, they don't really enforce the one-per-household rule strictly.
