On large ultrawide monitors, the curve helps significant reduce eye strain / eye fatigue. If you Google around, there have been several studies done that confirm this (some more scientific / precise than others, but almost all conclude the same thing).

Basically, your eyes are not flat - they're rounded, so having the curve helps brings more of the monitor into your field of view without needing to move or strain your eyes (which happens has a reflex even if you don't intentionally do it) to see what's on the screen because the curve brings more of the image into a narrower field of view.

A curved monitor isn't going to solve every problem, and the larger the monitor the more you will need to move or strain your eyes to see it (for example, you're never going to have the entirety of a 49" curved monitor into your field of view), but it's almost always going to be easier on your eyes than a flat monitor will be.

I went from a flat 27" to a curved 34" ultrawide several years back as my primary productivity monitor (mostly office applications, word processing, etc.) and while I wasn't having any serious issues with the 27", within a day or two I noticed a considerable relief from eye strain and headaches and have never looked back.
That sounds opposite... Usually the bigger the monitor, the more people like the curve.
From my research if you game you want a curve. If you work and do photo & video editing you don't necessarily want a curve.

I bought this to use primarily in SBS mode as a second monitor in a WFH setup. I used a monitor arm and couldn't be happier. Very easy to switch and use the full real-estate for my personal PC, but 90% of the time I use it as two monitors. The real-estate is fantastic for productivity apps.

Can run two apps side-by-side perfectly. Each half is 1720 x 1440. I honestly thing the best use of these ultra-wide displays is to act like two monitors, but with the flexibility to use the center of the display too. Something like Excel feels ridiculous at full-screen.

For those complaining about the stand. I use mine with the "VEO Single Monitor Arm Desk Mount". I don't think I could ever go back to having a stand under my monitor again.

Received and set up the monitor today. I find it quite disappointing when compared to my current 32 inch Lenovo QHD non-curve IPS monitor purchased last year from below deal. As many others have mentioned, brightness is ok but the color is very washed out and the viewing angle is not nearly as good. I was hoping to be wowed by the ultrawide screen for productivity but the improvements over the 32 16:9 is not much. The screen is wider but not as tall as the 32 inch 16:9 Lenovo, so neck strain is now more horizontal than vertical. I will probably stay with my existing setup until a higher quality curved ultrawide monitor deal comes along.

I simply did side by side comparisons of the images/videos displayed by the two monitors of the same content and same input source. The colors on the Samsung is much less vivid and look faded.

Pixels˃hz, I overclock this monitor to 100hz, can you have better resolution on yours?
For gaming, need refresh to be at least 120hz.

Nice price on a 34" 1440... but personally, I would never get this size without a curve.

Highly agree. I have a samsung 49" curved and bought this one for office use and being too wide and not curved feels like my eyes are going too far when going from left to right, just weird lol. But great price!

Definitely agree, I've had 34 ultra wide without a curve for a couple of years and I never feel that make use of the whole monitor as the edges tend make me uncenter myself to view them properly.

Not sure why people keep dissing on 34" ultrawide which is not curved.

If you have been using dual monitors, this is no different. I actually prefer an ultrawide because you can stretch a spreadsheet with lots of columns across the entire width. But most times, I use it like I would a dual monitor, snap screens on both sides.

I think you will need a curved screen if you are using it primarily to play games and have it stretched across the entire screen. Otherwise, a flat ultrawide is perfectly fine for day to day office productivity work. I have been using it for over a year since started working from home and I prefer it to my dual monitor in the office.

Not sure if it has already been mentioned, but for MacOs I downloaded the Rectangle App(free) and it makes it super easy to spit up the screen with multiple 'windows' for this ultrawide monitor. The shortcut keys are easy to use and offer the ability to have a wide variety of screen options. The app really enhances how I use the monitor.

I've only had the monitor for a few days, but i find that the colors are very washed out compared to my other monitors. The MacOs display calibration did help, but it still needs further adjustments. I find that I can get the picture to look good, but the darks are a little too dark. When I increase the brightness, it looks a little too washed out. I am sure that I will eventually find a sweet spot.

The display stand is not great, but I mounted it to the dual arm that I had two 24 inch monitors mounted two. My current arm was able to accommodate one 24 inch monitor and this 34 inch Samsung. Mounting this monitor is almost a must.
