Pretty sure Gearwrench was the original when it comes to the compact ratchet mechanism put into a regular wrench.
I agree that Craftsman's copy were more refined when made in the US but now that it's all China/Taiwan I'd probably go Gearwrench.

This particular set is not-reversing which means you have to flip them over to switch from tighten to loosen. That's not a huge deal, but sometimes the lack of angle/offset can make them difficult or impossible to use in certain situations.
