Similar to the Newegg deal, looks like BestBuy dropped their price for anyone preferring that route or who have bought it recently to get a price adjustment.

Features:
Next-gen PCIe Gen4 technology optimized for top-tier gaming (not intended for NAS or server environments)
Fast read/write speeds up to 7000/5300 MB/s (1TB model) and up to 1,000,000 IOPS (1TB and 2TB models)
Downloadable WD_BLACK Dashboard software to customize and control your gaming experience

I just did the hard drive trade in for 15%. Got an additional $22.50 off for $127.49 before tax.

What a deal!
Highly rated and recommended. Mark Cerny uses it in his PS5, and he's the leading architect for the system. I use the 2TB version in line, and it works flawlessly.
Couldn't you knock another 15% off with the storage recycling deal? Assuming you have an HDD, SSD, thumb drive, SD card, etc that you can trade in, anyway.

was anyone able to use the recycling coupon for an online in-store pickup order? as in will they adjust your price when you go pick it up with the coupon and refund the difference?

Yes, in fact shame on the top ps5 question reply. This deal is for the ssd without the heatsink but to use in a ps5 you need the one WITH a heatsink.

You can buy and install a heat sink yourself. They are like 10-15 bucks on Amazon. It's a very easy install.

I had previously ordered online, my store didnt have any in stock (or none nearby either) and i called customer service to see if it could be done with my online order that i had in hand.
They did say yes, so went in store, brough a 8gb Usb 2.0 flash drive for recycling, they did a return of the online order and did a new ring up right then and there with the printed coupon of 15%.

$127 cant beat that price for a pcie 4.0 1tb drive

For those who have a similar situation as i, its still possible to do.

can a few of these be put in an enclosure like this? https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/TB3EX4M2/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=shoppingengine&utm_campai... [macsales.com]

the enclosure's max speed is 2800 assuming due to tb3...does that mean that this setup would be a waste?

Why does Best Buy have 2 different model #'s/sku's for the SN850?
Model: WDBAPY0010BNC-WRSN SKU: 6425636 for $177.99 and
Model: WDBAUY0010BNC-WRSN SKU: 6425635 for $149.99

There has to be a reason? Is one a Best Buy only sku?
Yes, the WDBAUY0010BNC-WRSN is a BB only sku.

Quote from blakezilla :
Probably the heatsink version and the bare ssd
No, the heatsink version has a totally different picture and a MSRP difference of $40

Quote from pekinggeese :
I scoured through the questions and found a WD rep answering the difference. BAUY is a bare drive with no software. BAPY is backwards compatible with prior pci-e generations.

No difference if you got gen 4. But they won't price match because different models.
Quote from baller1308 :
What I was able to find:
WDBAUY0010BNC is a bare SSD drive sold without any pre-installed software. Whereas, WDBAPY0010BNC is not bare and backward compatible with PCIe Gen3 x2, PCIe Gen3 x1, PCIe Gen2 x4, PCIe Gen2 x2, and PCIe Gen2 x1
They are all backwards compatible to prior m.2 pcie generations as long as your m.2 slot supports NVMe. Some m.2 SATA slots can't read m.2 NVMe.

Quote from Notasaurus :
One has a heat sink the other doesn't.
Quote from pakman3k :
No he's right. There's no heatsink
Quote from JasonJ4678 :
Because one has heatsink other one doesn't
False, both do not have heatsink.

Quote from Notasaurus :
Maybe not on the image but in the store the one for $177 had a heatsink and the one for $149 didn't.

Edit: Nope, wrong again. That's what the store associate told me why it cost more since that's the one he grabbed first. Seems according to the questions and answers for the drive the difference is pre-installed software on the more expensive version. No idea what software that is.
Software may possibly be drive utilities, but I doubt it.

"Best Buy is known to get specific model numbers in SSDs that they only sell (so as not to have to price match).

I don't know what software would come preinstalled on the drive, and pretty much all the PCIe 4.0 drives I've seen listed are all backwards compatible with past revisions (e.g. PCIe 3.0, 2.0, etc.). So to me it appears that whoever typed that answer you referenced simply didn't know what they were talking about (or weren't allowed to say it was a Best Buy specific model for price-matching reasons).

I doubt there is any difference in speeds (or anything else) between the two different versions."

In addition to BB not having to price match or other retailers price match against them, but also for return fraud reasons. Can't buy from another retailer and return it to BB.

"Best Buy frequently has tech companies create proprietary model numbers so they do not have to price match the same product at other retailers. I have seen no evidence WD is making multiple hardware revisions with different specification."

Please note this drive is slightly different from the previous deal, at least different sku wise. I cannot price adjust from previous purchase because of it. Better to just return and get this cheaper one.
