It appears that Ubiquiti's U6-Pro access point is in stock and out of the early access program. My Ubiquiti stock alert didn't trigger because they've apparently made a new sku listing for it (or something).

Max order quantity of 2. Reddit thread suggests that UI may be counting prior purchases towards that limit.

Does not include a required PoE injector. I bought the U-PoE-AT [ui.com].

WOW at $180 its a no brainer no contest, it puts this U6-Pro to shame.
I went with pro mainly because I don't honestly see a benefit to the faster 2.4ghz. That band is always crowded and never gets good speed, if you need speed 5ghz is the answer, I use the 2.4ghz for all my slow devices that just need some sort of basic connectivity.

The other benefit is the 2.5gbps port, for me that is useless since it will likely be years before I have internet faster than that and I don't do local file transfers and I don't have any switches that support it. I'd personally rather save the $30.

I've always wanted to try ubiquiti as well so that nudged me towards them, and I haven't had great experiences with tplink, maybe their business stuff is better.

If 2.5/5gbps switches weren't so expensive then, I'd probably just go with the tplink, but I'll wait for those to get cheaper and just get a 6e access point at the same time.

The better 2.4ghz band will also provide you better coverage cause it will cover the outskirts a lot better then the 5ghz band. The speed on the 2.4ghz band with proper clients with these new devices can easily get over 100Mbps 100+ feet away from the AP and to stream 4k HD all your really need is about 40Mbps.

The 2.5Gbps while beneficial for ISP is actually not primarily for your internet its more for your LAN, having multiple devices talking to each other will benefit from having larger lanes. In my case multiple computers talking to a NAS box and high end gaming consoles/computers all sharing the LAN.

Its definitely more for hardcore users so probably less than 10% of all users will benefit.

Actually you can get 2.5 5 port switches for exponentially lower than you used to, as low as $105 dollars and then you can combo that with other 1/10/1000 switches to provide them greater bandwidth coming back. Its a very easy but beneficial home network upgrade. Yes 10Gig switches are still $400-1000+ but you don't really need that for now.

6E is all same room, so its a complete waste of money unless you really have a 20 foot radius around the router that you need super high speeds on.

Good luck with the U6-Pro, I hated my Ubiquiti gear so quitting that eco system was the best thing I ever did. It was all over priced, had multiple switches get bricked from firmware upgrades or overheating, and hated paying a lot for performance that gets beat out by half the price routers on store shelves.

We'll see how it goes. I honestly don't have high expectations because I've seen the ubiquiti forms on reddit. I have two ac68u's as aps right now with pfsense router. They are limiting my internet speed at the current moment so I'm just getting pro to replace one of them where I actually download a lot. If it sucks i'll move it to where the other ac68 is and just get something different for my main ap.

I have one of these from when they first launched in Early Access. In my family I also administer 2x U6-LR + 1x U6-Lite at a large home with about 100-120 devices and two homes with 1x U6-Lite and only a handful of devices. The U6-Pro is exceptional. I see significantly higher real-world throughput than the gen 5 U6 APs. The gen 5 APs tend to give me 350-500 Mbps on Wifi 6 devices. The U6-Pro on the other hand reliably gets 650-800 Mbps. It has tested as high as 837 Mbps, which is the fastest Wifi to public throughput I've witnessed firsthand.

I had one in my cart at 2:50pm PST but it sold out. With these EA devices (or really any in-demand Ubiquiti hardware) you need to be quick on the draw. As other people in the thread report, it can be worthwhile to try checking again in the 30 minutes after a device shows as sold out as often a few units seem to get released back into inventory.
