These drives are the one time a year I actually consider shopping at BestBuy. Rest of the year I forget they exist. Truly a XMAS miracle.

Good luck getting that fixed. I ended up using my wife's account.

I bought the 12tb for this price a month ago, thus lifting the curse and allowing this sale to happen. You are all welcome

Spinning drives fail so often that my samsung 750gb drives from 2006 are still working fine. Any day now!
Some of those old drives just never seem to fail!

Yes, because singular anecdotal evidence can be applied to entire class of products. Peace
I have 14 drives running on my Truenas server 24/7 since 2013 and not one failure....

The downside though to these large drives is rebuild time of the RAID would take forever vs the 3TB drives I am using.

SSD, cloud, etc. Pretty much anything but a spinning external hard drive.
SSD have a much higher failure rate at the moment than the WD drives.
Seagates also fail at higher rates than WD. Have several of the large externals running 24/7. Some have been up for more than 6 years nonstop and no issues, including 12TB, 14TB and 18TB sizes.

OTOH, had two SSDs fail within less than 2 years.

Yeah, I never get when people say things like this. Are they waiting for a sale on stone slabs and chisels?
You might ask Moses... Those break too.
