Just shucked. WD140EDGZ. White, 14TB, 5400, helium, 256, CMR, SATA 6Gb/s.
FYI there appears to be a limit associated to Address. I couldnt not figure it out for the longest time until I changed address on my second order. Observations:

- max order of (3) for non-business account on first tranaction to Address1
- able to get to checkout (1) additional drive to Address1 for second transaction
- anything with qty 2-3 to Address1 for second transaction returns an error and cannot continue
- order for (3) drives to Address2 on second transaction has no issues
Here is the previous post for information on the 15% off coupon and various discussion regarding the drive:

I really wish I was joking, but that was my experience. Maybe I shouldn't of told them that the drives were lower capacity and maybe I would've gotten my money back but I guess no good deed goes unpunished
And that's why I video everything I open

I don't usually make comments but I was so dumbfounded when this happened. DO NOT BUY. There is no guarantee what is inside these drives. I bought two sealed in store and went home to check it out and they turned out to be 500 gb and 1 tb drives. I went back to the store to get a refund but they told me there was tampering and couldn't issue a return. I am down $380 now and have no way other than going to the manufacturer to get my product. I repeat DONT BUY THIS unless you're willing to take the risk

if you paid with a reputable CC you might be able to do a chargeback. though a couple of things could happen with that.

Did you found out the sizes after just plugging in with usb or after opening the case to shuck them?
why would they accuse you of tampering if you just plugged it in , if that's the case just go to a different cashier but just do a return.I smell BS.

I understand how you feel that, but I found out the sizes using Crystalinfo without even shucking it (I wanted to check before I shucked it) and unfortunately, it was only one return line, and I spoke with two of the managers who refused to give me a refund after all that

How do you guys use the external hard drive productively? I have some backups for photos and music, but I can barely use 1TB.

What a about doing a simple return on a different day or store without telling them what's inside instead of losing $380

As much as I want the $380 back, I'd rather not be dishonest about this. I think the only person that should be made dishonest is the person who switched the drives. I intend to go back to discuss if there were any previous owners of this sku though

I do not understand. The model number printed on my box and HDD was WDBAMA0140HBK-NESN. But after hooking up into PC and checking with HWinfo I got this result 'Drive Model: WDC WD140EDGZ-11B2DA2' and it says Media rotation rate is 7200 RPM. Why is the model number not the same from the HWinfo software? Also, can anyone hear the occasional clicks that happen in the HDD after some regular interval, or did I get a faulty unit? The read and write speeds of my unit from CrystalDiskMark are given here in the image.

4k video (or even 1080p) from smartphones. Whole system backups, especially multiple copies like one per month for an entire year. This is useful for restoring software (e.g. something tried to update and then broke itself). Ditto for phone backups.

You know stupidly, I paid with cash. I think from now on I'll always pay with my credit card for these types of situations. I most definitely did not expect this to happen and even when talking with the best buy people in-store, it felt as they were accusing me of tampering with the drives. I guess what I'm saying is that, once these are bought, you might not be able to return them even if you didn't get the product you wanted.
Take it up the chain. Find out who the district manager is or call corporate. Don't give up until you get a full refund.

A Western Digital hard drive makes a repeated clicking noise every 5 seconds. Cause: The 'noise' heard is due to a feature used to prevent disturbances in media lube due to prolonged dwelling at a single location. This is common for HDD suppliers as a preventive activity for reliability.

how are you being dishonest if your telling them the truth. 2 different drives and you get 500 gb and 1 tb instead of 14tb. BS
