edit: make sure to look at the seller. If it is being sold by amazon it is on sale, if by 3rd party it will be back to $2999
this tv seems to keep going back in/out of stock sold from amazon

https://www.amazon.com/Hisense-Du...B096MYMP5X

price just dropped by $1000
I'd say a direct competitor to the samsung Qn90a and sony X95j

pros: better contrast than the Qn90a and x95j due to the "dual cell" technology
cons: doesn't get as bright

Dual-Cell Technology: Be first to own the first Dual-Cell Technology TV in the US. Two panels stacked together create 40 times more contrast than a regular LED TV, made possible by layering a luminance control panel behind a 4K panel to manage grayscale and color precisely

QA Note: Pre-Order This item will be released on December 6, 2021.

For this much I'd rather get a 85 inch x85j or add 200 more and get x91j

This seems like a really good deal. I have some clients with Hisense TVs and they've been very happy with them for the price (they are really good for the low-and-midrange market). I had to do a quick read-up on the tech cause I wasn't familiar with dual-cell and how it compared with OLED for the price. They're stacking 2 panels on top of each other with one designated to contrast and brightness enhancement of the other panel.

I guess the biggest con I see to this tech is the thickness of the TV. The reviews I saw for this model are pretty glowing. I've always been a sucker for new TV tech, and honestly, if I was in the market for a 75", I'd probably bite. I love OLED TVs, but I'm always a little concerned about life of the television. The results of these typically lower-end makers breaking into a higher end tier of product line oftentimes results in some pretty awesome offerings (I think of when Vizio was first to market with the Quantum models). This does seem like a legitimate $1000 savings, but I suspect the TV will drop in price to an area where $2000 is the usually more often than not.

You're dreaming if you think 75inch OLED's will be just 1500 next year. Rtings finishes their eval on this tv this week, I fully expect it to crush everything near $2k. It's current competitors, C1 and Q90 are at least $800+ more.

My .02 the problem is much cheaper led sets vs this. I'm greatly oversimplifying but in the ~75" market I think the best choices are still mid level led sets under say $1500... or biting the bullet and going with oled which is gonna run you over $2500.

I struggle with a set like this being 50% better than a ~$1300 midrange 75" led... or twice as much as a lower end 75" led.

That makes no sense. Even the "mid-range" 75inchers are at least $1500. If you're talking about anything less than say an x85/90j, then you're buying trash and probably don't care about quality anyway.

I think for certain aspects, like contrast/blooming, it'll surpass qn90a and x95j. Just due to the technology hisense is using, that is an easy guess to make. It'll not be as bright as those two though, since that second panel blocks more light. It is kind of in a strange area. if I had to guess maybe for people that want closer-to-oled blacks/contrast but too afraid of oled burn-in?

I'll be curious to see how if, or how much brighter, it is compared to oled.

hisense doesn't have the best rep, but at this price, maybe worth a gamble. I'm waiting for that review as well

Review would be ideal, but the information from Value Electronics shootout where it was pitted against TV's like the A90J, QNED99, and G1 show it's relative performance. Obviously it couldn't hang with the $6k+ TV's but it was a respectable showing at the time when it's price was around $3k. At $2k this should an absolute no-brainer if you're not interested in dropping another $1k for the 77inch C1 or A80J.....and even this would still warrant consideration based upon your use scenario.

This from a Gizmodo review:
"The Hisense Dual Cell ULED 75U9DG is a very good television, with excellent contrast, stellar detail in the shadows, great color reproduction, and smooth gaming. The thing that I keep coming back to is the price: For $3,500, you simply shouldn't expect to see some of the motion blur issues I saw during testing, nor would you want to see any sort of stuttering (which, again, didn't happen while watching content over HDMI). If you prefer Blu-ray or a separate streaming device, of course, many of these complaints fall away, and gamers will certainly prefer this TV to Sony's A80J thanks to its inclusion of VRR and other gamer features. But for movie enthusiasts, OLED remains the way to go".

I didn't catch the live stream of the event, but watched the post-event notes going over the winners etc. But I can't remember anything mentioned about the dual cell. This is on me though since it was a while ago and my memory sucks hah
