The grill was fully assembled, but my wife and I had to lug this big behemoth about 75ft to my back porch, traversing gravel which made it not fun.

Lowe's apparently uses the phrase "professional assembly/setup" very loosely.

How does this compare to the Kamado Barbecue Grill Smoker Ceramic 31.9", which Walmart is selling for $485?

Considering replacing a 22" Weber that is use mainly for smoking and roasting. It works but only until I finally upgrade to a dedicated smoker or something like the Kamari. Simple grilling for me is almost always on a gas grill.

For anyone who has this classic, how fast can you get it really hot (600 or higher) for searing steaks? I like the added flavor my Weber kettle gives me but usually go to my Weber gas grill since it's so much quicker and hotter.

So someone recommended the charcoal basket. I'm not sure I see the point.

Is this big enough to have coals on one side for indirect heat? I saw one basket has a split divider for coal.

Also, what about this soap stone surface? Is that the jam to use over the regular grate?


Lastly is there an auto temp control that isn't over $200? Like under $100?

Someone recommended the flame master 400 thing but good lord that like $270

Saw something from thermoworks that was $70 but not sure it does the same or how feature stripped it is,

For anyone thinking about having Lowe's price-match it, do yourself a favor and don't try doing it via online chat. I just wasted an hour of my time where they initially indicated that they'd be happy to price-match it, only to find out an hour later that they were unable to and they instead told me to call in to order it. And, after I specifically asked about it, they told me that I'd be starting at square 1 to explain it all with the person on the phone (i.e., the hour I spent with online chat wouldn't show up anywhere for the phone people to see). So I then called the number they gave only to be told by an automated system that they were now closed for the holidays and it hung up on me.
