pCloud has brought back their yearly Black Friday deal for lifetime cloud storage accounts.
500GB for $122.50

Pcloud is flagged as an unsafe site by Google Safe Browsing and other web browsers.
They also scans your files as evidenced by this user, who's account was immediately terminated about "copyright infringement". This user states they only had family photos on there and were only given a robotic response when asking pcloud which files breached TOS.
Doesnt seem to be a realiable service for anything more than files which you can guarantee are your creation and/or copyright. Or have encrypted everything. Honestly, this site seems shady to begin with for offering lifetime subscription when the cost of storage is rising.
I've had backblaze for a while and I stopped using then due to inexplicably rising price. Just stick to a home NAS and screw these companies.

If you want security with pCloud, you need to buy their add-on encryption, currently 125 lifetime. I was able to get it for $99 about a year ago. But cloud service SHOULD INCLUDE EXCELLENT SECURITY, NOT CHARGE EXTRA!!!
IceDrive is supposed to have a Black Friday sale soon, but I haven't seen it posted yet. Includes excellent security.
Be wary with this. Had an account with family photos and constantly had emails from other countries trying to access my account. Just decided to delete and close the account
How much was the extra 2TB? Do you have to call them to purchase the additional 2 TB?
$245. It was an option when I logged into my account.
Pretty much every cloud storage site has complaints. I've never had any issues at all, including legal backups of copyright material. Never had random login attempts. Never had lockouts of the account. There is risk in any storage solution - online or physical copies. This is one layer of backup, treat it as such and it is worthwhile. Plus the features it offers are pretty great.

After reading about this, sounds like they hash your files and see if it compares against known copyrighted titles.
But yes if you encrypt everything then they cannot read it.
They sell their own "crypto" add on.
I prefer to use my own so I know for sure its secure.
I use RClone (which is free) with my pCloud. I have my own mounted encrypted drive that streams files just like pCloud does too- except no one but me can view it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RodGVORy90A
This is a great youtube video on how to easily set it up.

Home NAS is great until a fire or flood. Also the price didn't rise that much for Backblaze and it wasn't inexplicable, it was a global electronics shortage. That said, I don't plan to upgrade my 500gb Pcloud until they offer existing members a discount for already purchased storage. Pcloud's app also has "statistical" trackers. So yeah I am always looking for more private alternatives that meet my needs.

Would be nice if they gave an upgrade price.
Have a 2TB account myself but can't throw that out just to get a 4TB.
Get whatever you think you will need presuming you need more than what you currently use.
Streaming video files can take lots of space.
