Just fyi, samsung has downgraded this drive due to chip shortages, it doesn't have its phoenix controller, so the performance is much less than it used to be.

While you're right in that they did do a stealth part swap, Arstechnica doesn't get the whole story right.

All in all, it's more in "side grade" territory. The drive now has better SLC cache, but worse sustained writes after you overwhelm said cache. Keep in mind, what this means is that you're going to be worse off when you're moving large files around. For daily use, and gaming, this actually appears to be an upgrade.

I hate to come off as a fan boy, nothing makes me angrier than blind brand loyalty, but I don't want you guys running away screaming from something that would actually be good for you.

Have been watching these all month and this is the lowest I've seen for Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2TB. B&H [bhphotovideo.com] also has it for the same price.

This is my first deal post - thanks for the heads up! Edited and fixed.

Tried looking for the SSD tag but the expandable accordion menu was bugging out on me the first time around.

Yes, it's a little funky, that's for sure... I expect this will be quite popular. Nicely done!

Why Amazon showing 600TBW? Shouldn't it 1200TBW?

Ugh. I didn't even hear about that, and that article was published within DAYS of when I bought mine and I'm too lazy to disassemble my iMac again just to check, but speed tests don't seem to crater on larger file sizes like mentioned in the article, so maybe I got lucky...

Do you by chance know the Crucial and WD ssd that downgraded from TLC to QLC? That is so messed up... Samsung too, but atleast it was only a controller swap
