⚠️ You are limited to one promotional bill credit at a time per line ⚠️ If the line already has promotional bill credits from old promotions you will lose those credits. You MUST pay off the device to move the credits over to the account level to sign up for new Recurring device credits on that line. THIS WORDING IS DIRECTLY FROM T-MOBILE'S website support page for RDC Recurring device credits also known as promotional bill credits. So DO NOT DO THIS ON A LINE THAT HAS BILL CREDITS ATTACHED TO IT.Tips for getting the free device
" You may have one Recurring Device Credits (RDC) promo per line at a time. To get a new Recurring Device Credits (RDC) promo and keep your current credit, you must pay off the existing EIP first.
If you pay off your EIP early, you'll continue to receive the promised Recurring Device Credits (RDC) as an account-level credit through the remaining months of the promotional credit period (up to 24 or 36 months)."

Best way to buy the Velvet (or other free device):
1. Open T-Mobile app on your phone and go to "Account" tab
2. Tap the big square with your line in it. It's ok if that's not the line you're going to put the velvet on.
3. Tap "Upgrade device"
4. Tap "all devices"
5. If a popup shows asking what you'd like to do today, close it with the X at the top right
6. At the top, be sure the dropdown says "You are upgrading a current device"
7. Scroll to the very bottom and find the velvet and tap it
8. Hit upgrade my line. From there you can pick which line to actually buy the device on.

Presumably the only reason the LG is on this list is because they've abandoned the Android market. Otherwise, it does not belong in the category of free phone and will surely go out of stock VERY quickly after this deal goes live. The other freebie Samsung phones are somewhere between cruel jokes and OK as a dummy device to run your remote control app.

Good luck!

But I just kept pressing forward in my browser, and it returned me back to the checkout page, and I was able to complete the checkout.
So, just to be clear, as far as we can tell, this is for ANY T-mobile plan? Included my grandfathered One+ 55 Unlimited plan?
I went back to my account page and it still showed my old plan, and the order review page never made mention about adding a new phone plan, so I think I should be in the clear.
I did it online. Log into your account, then in a new window open T-mobile.com... click on the little advertisement on the front page showing the deal. Go through and get the Velvet (or Samsung phone of choice) and make sure you have selected it as upgrading an eligible line. It will look like you are going to pay $16.67 per month or something like that and then when it gets to the final screen before starting the checkout it will show a $400 credit (spread over 24 months).
you'll be fine. if things go south, you can just return the phone.

1. Enter your number below to see if it can be transferred to T-Mobile.
2. I want a new number
Neither of these options apply to me. I already have a T-Mobile number and I'm not adding a line. I had to call 1-800-937-8997 to talk to an expert to get my order placed properly. I just got confirmation that my order for a velvet 5G went through.
