Best Buy is selling the 14-oz., current version of Ember's self-heating coffee mug. Normally, the 14-oz. version goes for $130 but is on-sale today for $100. (That is the regular price of the 10-oz. version.)

This is the same price as the Costco deal also flagged on SlickDeals today. But if you are not a CostCo member, then Best Buy is the way to get the deal.

These are very rarely on a serious sale. I bought the 10-oz., 1st-generation a few years ago for $65 (awesome deal) when Ember was clearing stock on the old model. Then last week for Black Friday, the Ember website was offering $10 off on the purchase of two mugs together. That's typically as good as it gets.

Note it's only available in blue, which seems to be Best Buy-only, i.e., the mug is not available in this color on Ember's website.

Below is the Best Buy link. Not sure if the deal lasts past today.

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/embe...Id=6471969

For those who are wondering why anyone would pay even $65 for a coffee mug, this thing works really well. It will keep your coffee at a set temperature for around an hour if you're away from its charging coaster. And if you keep the mug on the coaster at your desk, it will keep the coffee at a set temperature indefinitely. There is even an iOS or Android app that lets you adjust the temperature to your liking.

Yes, this is a luxury gift. But if you really like coffee (or other hot drink) and want to keep it warm (nearly) to the last drop, this is the best option.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

I got one of these from Costco. My complaint is that it works too well. What I mean by that is it constantly cooks while in the mug. It works wonderfully on black coffee and tea. But I like creamer in my coffee. Since I put creamer in, it essentially cooks to the side of the cup.

I don't like the cup simply for this reason. If I drank black coffee, I would be in love with it.
I guess that's the crux of the matter.

Not as slick looking, but for a whopping 22 bucks you could also get a temperature controlled heating pad to use with your plain old dishwasher safe ceramic mug: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0779QR...ZB3E1MV1X9
I think people misunderstand what this does. They don't realize you can actually set the desired temperature.

I admit these seem very expensive, and they are. I hemmed and hawed for a while because getting one. I've used it literally every day for the last two years. Absolutely worth every penny.

Yeah but I think this has Bluetooth 5.1, AX Wi-Fi, HMDI 2.1, VRR & there's talk of adding a tiny little G-Sync screen on the bottom.
Are you saying I can overclock this coffee mug? Will it enhance the depth of flavor? Or just allow me to drink it faster at 165hz?

Buyer beware: The software for this will either work flawlessly for you, or it would be absolute dogshit. There is no in between. I've had this mug for 3 years now and using an Android. 6 days a week it'll work fine, but there's that one day that the app suddenly decides to be an ass and you'll have to deal with it for the next several days.

Also like others have said, the gray version is available at Costco for $99 (it's the 14oz version)
So FYI one thing I didn't mention is that the firmware never updates properly from Android and always fails. I've only been able to update from iOS.

Usually it has to do with the outer coating. They tend to not hold up to dishwashers high heat and will chip/peel. The inside obviously was designed to deal with it.
Since they also advise against just soaking it, I suspect there might be more to it.

Honestly, I wouldn't get the lighter colored ones, there's been reports of them staining. Also I would only use wooden stirrers on these and try not to touch the sides of the mug while mixing, it'll help prevent any chipping. I believe this is mentioned on their website somewhere as well.
The grey sold by Costco is lighter than OP's blue.

The question is, do you reheat your cup of coffee in the microwave or brew a new cup because it got cold? If yes, then you are using energy for either of those options.
The question really is the cost of each of those options. Since you probably already own a microwave and coffee pot why would you compound the lunacy by spending more money to achieve the same thing.

Most people are missing the point. This isn't about heating the cup of coffee but MAINTAINING a specific temperature. Microwaving or brewing a fresh cup introduces the same issue - your coffee will slowly cool down and you only get to enjoy that sweet spot of flavor and temperature for a short time. Is that worth $100 to you? For some people it is. Why anybody cares if somebody buys this with their OWN money is beyond me.

I'm working on a wifi toilet so you can flush with your cellphone. No more touching dirty handles 👍 I might add Bluetooth and a speaker incorporated into the lid as well. Maybe even a heated seat. I'll let you know how it goes

You're correct. If you want to waste money go enjoy, you don't need my blessing.

Genius... although it will take people a lot longer to do their business while they fiddle with the app they'll need to download and all the technical problems they may encounter. There will need to be a 1-800 emergency number to call for tech problems when they can't flush.

1-800 number will strictly be for when your toilet clogs. Help will be dispatched immediately. Please remain on the line in case additional assistance is needed

I just tried mine out this morning and it's crap. I'm returning it. Unless you like your coffee at about 119 F, it'll be too cold. I set it to 145F (maximum temperature) and it only keeps the very bottom of the cup at 145. The top sits at 119, as tested with a calibrated thermometer. 119 is much too cold for my preferences so this mug is getting returned.

Stirring with a stir stick might solve this issue... but that might be too much work... we need a smart stir-stick to go with this mug. You can control the stirring speed and frequency with your smartphone.

No raised pinky needed, unless that's how you enjoy your beverage of choice.

You must be a pinky raiser. https://www.afternoonteaexpert.co...-drink-tea

The temperature I posted was supposed to be in Celsius. Ember mug does not have any cooling capabilities, but a few minutes after pouring your coffee, it'll notify you that it's at your desired temperature (e.g., 57C for me). Then, -this is the part that folks like you miss- it keeps it at 57C as long as I desire. It's the same for every single cup I consume every day. If you want to continue comparing this to a thermos, it's not the same product. I have plenty of those, as well as travel mugs, etc. All are in a closet somewhere.

Except you ACTUALLY said - "This will maintain a 57 F (or whatever you set in the app) for an hour for you from the first sip to the very last." which is what I responded to. RIF. That's OK, it just displays how you are unable to admit to your own mistakes and simply move on and highlights the irony of your patronizing "-this is the part that folks like you miss-" bloviation. LMAO So no, I missed nothing about how the Ember works and probably understand more about it than you. BTW, nowhere in my post did I compare the product to a thermos so you are also a blatant liar. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

No need to roll your eyes. Nobody is embellishing anything that this can not do. LMAO No, only you embellishing something it CAN DO. Are you always so incoherent? 🤔 As I explain above, the premise is pretty simple. It holds your beverage at a specific temperature. How important that is to you and how much you're willing to pay for it is totally up to you.
Yes the premise is pretty simple. As I explained in my previous reply, YOUR stating the ember mug can maintain a 57 F temperature (your exact words) is, in fact, implying that the ember device will cool down your beverage below room temperature which is not true. IOW, embellishing. If you just admitted your "claimed" error about F vs. C (sorry, I don't believe you based on the rest of your deflection ridden reply) and didn't resort to childish passive aggressiveness I wouldn't need to repeat this. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Being on a "deal site" doesn't mean buying cheap stuff. Have you seen any watch deals on SD? Yes, a $20 Timex from Walmart would do the same. Once again, your comprehension skills are lacking as I CLEARLY stated "I have no issue with anyone spending any amount for something they want..." - congrats on batting a thousand for illiteracy though. 👍🏻

Sure I'd buy that. Let me know when you come out with it. Do it, you won't.
