These are the only buds I would buy on the market if you want amazing audio quality and ANC. Coming from XM3, I can't really tell if audio is better, but the charging case is soooo much smaller, and battery life is even better. Best of all, these stay in your ear much better than XM3. So much that I would be comfortable running with them unlike XM3. Also water resistant while XM3 has none.

As someone who has owned these since they've been introduced, they have a lot of glaring issues... atleast on iOS as I have nothing else to test them with.
1.) charge case is cheap and flimsy, feels like they will most likely break at some point
2.) the stock ear tips are not very comfortable, get dirty and brittle quickly and dont stay in your ears very well (I have to constantly push them back in my ear when at the gym or at work moving around)
3.) it has a bug where it will keep your alarm volume around 20 percent and only sometimes it lets you change it back which if you use your alarm is a serious annoyance
4.) sound quality takes a huge dip when you go above 70 percent volume and they arent entirely very loud in the first place, This is honestly the biggest annoyance for me as 60 percent volume is okay if you have ANC on but if you dont, it can be hard to hear the music.
5.) touch controls are not very responsive and can require multiple taps to get it to work, my basic airpods I have never had an issue with this, every tap was recognized
Overall, for retail at 299.99 USD these sound great but with how many problems I've had, even RMAing and getting a new pair, I am pretty turned off from these and will probably not trust Sony again. You can go online and find the same issues reported from other people and some even saying on Android having similar issues as well.
If they work great for you then im happy because I want to like them, when they work they do sound fantastic and easily the best ear buds I've ever heard, but again for 300 dollars and a reputable company you would think these ridiculous issues would've been ironed out by now.
You might have gotten a dud. Mine have none of those issues. They get very loud while staying clean and the touch controls work every time for me.
Where to get for $129 ? Liberty 3 pro is $169 everywhere
Verizon, last week, black color only, free 2-day shipping (I actually received it the next day), not sure if the deal is still alive. This new version 3 has addressed the major three shortcomings of 2: excessive bass, unbalanced battery drain and transparent mode. Many new features in addition to multiple devices: EQ based on HearID, HearID ANC, LDAC, wind noise reduction switch for transparent mode... It is now perfect, no point to get anything else except Samsung Buds Live for bed time.
Ozzy says these are the best headphones for the buck. I have close to 10 wireless ones... Search my other threads replies for more details. Nothing beats these...
I bought a set from this user and it's great. I was about to buy it new but couldn't pass up this deal. I also bought a pair of galaxy buds pro that are getting returned.
I was thinking about both of these as well. Can you list some pros and cons off top of your head?

I had these and got the beat fit pro. The quality is almost the same but the fit is 100 times better for gym or runni
OOS now but I picked up a pair last night. With Cali tax it came in at $161 shipped. Slick for sure. I use my XM3's all the time so this will be a welcome upgrade.

The new ones only come with foam tips.
The Liberty is nowhere near the Sony's. Sorry.

Paying for replacement tips isn't worth saving over $100?
Sound and noise cancelling is noticibly better, fit better than xm3's but not as well as airpod pros.
They pair just fine but they just don't have a widget or tile for my Galaxy watch 4 like the buds do.

The beats fit pro have an even better fit than the air pods pro with a bit better sound quality
