You can probably get away with a 750w, or depending on the rest of the rig a 650w. But this will solidly power a 3080 + moderately overclocked cpu.

extra info for others since nobody posted it yet: This is listed as an A tier psu on the LTT list.

So, just curious, every time there's a comment like this, it's just because slickdeals merged a duplicate post into the comments, right?
For a long time I was confused why people would seemingly repost deal info in the comments; slickdeals really should mark/label/etc. these merges as such

Platinum should be the new 80+ standard. We are still living in the 20th century on allot of tech because cheap china goods flooding the market mean there is expensive crap in the middle.

Now they wanna blow up the moon with shoddy China nuclear reactors, and all the little tide pool creatures are gonna die cuz no more second tides once they destroy that ole bad boy in 100 years like they did earth imho

I just ordered the EVGA 850 BQ and this is a much better PSU I think, it appears however it only has one 4+4 CPU connector while the EVGA has two 4+4 connectors. The reason I bring this up is because the Z690 motherboards have either 8+4 or 8+8 inputs, anyone with experience with this? My older thermaltake smart power 750w also only has one 4+4 connector and this is why I decided to upgrade my PSU but perhaps it isn't needed (my asus z690 TUF manual states that either the 8+4 pin or just the 8 pin can be used but I am concerned about power requirements with the 12600k or 12700k (I purchased both CPUs but can't decide which one to keep lol)). I've googled this and some forums say a 4+4 pin connector can supply 300w while others say a much lower number, ~150w. Certainly with any 12th gen at least 125w is needed, more with turbo boost, hence my dilemma. Any help/thoughts is/are appreciated.

Great questions. I am in the same boat. I do not want to spend this much on a power supply only to find out I cannot use it. I would anticipate I would build my computer in 6-9 months after I have gotten the best prices for the components via Slickdeals... Applause

I am also open to someone who is up to date on this. It has been a number of years since my last build.

Remember that the 80+ gold rating is most efficient when wattage use is closer to half the total wattage. If you are close to the max wattage you will not be running efficiently. If you plan to upgrade to 4090 or very thirsty cpu and gpu in the future it is always best to go overboard then to be barely enough. Psu also something you will rarely see go out of date compared to other components.

The 850w is dropping fast. I paid around 135-140 for it about a year ago.

I currently have a 850w power supply running a 3090 and 2 5700xt's for mining on an overclocked water cooled 10700k powering 6 hard drives roughly and about 10 case fans.

Your mileage might vary

Got one at that time as well, but they did go OOS pretty quickly
