I don't think it's ever been that low in the 4+ years it's been out. At least not straight up. You might be waiting until the next gen Switch lol. I got it for about $35 awhile ago when Target had it on sale for $50 and special 30% off promo for in-store pickup stacked with it at the time, plus the 5% red card discount.

Jk but I seriously agree, it just so unfortunate that there's no discount for that format
On the plus side, the used resale value of the physical game is almost 100% of the price here.

Digital, not so much Wink

Does the digital version ever go on sale?
Last time it was this price, some of us had success getting Target.com (via support chat) to allow a price match to the digital version. My rep said he'd do it as a one-time courtesy since I was a long-time Target customer. So very YMMV, but might be worth the effort.

Can players play together in online multiplayer races? I.e. 2 family members with 2 Switches and separate copies of the game.

You can actually share one digital copy between two different switch profiles on two separate switch consoles and play games online together with one minor limitation.

They might start the Nintendo Selects "soon". Usually it is near end of life so soon on the scale of a year or two. I don't recall Mario Kart games previously getting the label though (maybe Double Dash did??).

If so, it might hit $20. Nintendo Select/Players Choice been a thing since GameCube. I feel like it is usually a handful of 1st party games, but not all of them.
It's possible they may introduce the Nintendo Selects line one day but with how well their first-party games are selling in general as it is I feel like it has pushed back on that. And even if they did at some point you are right that it has historically been a handful of select games and a Mario Kart title hasn't been included in it lately, at least not in the US. I don't recall if Double Dash was a Player's Choice title on the GameCube but it may have been.

They're still bundling this successfully to sell systems, so I can't really see them doing that anytime "soon". At least not until OLED becomes the default model and/or they introduce a different bundle.
I would tend to agree here.

It was $35 recently. I bought it about a
Month ago at that price. I was a Wii U holdout but eventually gave up because they haven't even mentioned a sequel yet.
Reportedly, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe continues to sell like gangbusters 4+ years later even in the absence of a promotional bundle so at this rate who the heck knows when there will be a Mario Kart 9. I'm thinking perhaps towards the end of the Switch's life cycle. Maybe.

Can someone please explain to me the logic of Nintendo not really coming out with new games on a more frequent basis. Like why are the same stuff on sale this year the same exact !@#$ as last year?!?! Just stupid.

Additional 30% off ($12 off) at Amazon by using AmEx points as payment if you can see the offer on the product page. YMMV

Don't sleep on OLED upgrade model. IMO OLED upgrade and .8 inch bigger screen, is worth $50 easily over regular version. For me the upgrade is worth $150 or so. Much better looking screen with OLED and bigger size makes a huge difference. YMMV though of course for anyone.
