Knife itself is meh. Blade is ok, but nothing special. Mine needed to have the liner lock filed before it would lock properly, and still quite a challenge to close one-hander. Ok for cheap price, but there are much better knives out there if you are willing to spend a bit more. (Ontario RAT 2, etc.)

I paid the same price in April this year. It's functional for opening boxes and letters, not much else.

If the banana is still green, the banana would have the advantage in that fight. If it's a ripe banana, then it's even money.

I own this. Hell it's in my pocket right now. It's nothing special, but it's a fine little $8 knife that I haven't lost yet.

Good enough for super basic EDC for limited use and travel. but if I'm actually working, camping, hiking, whatever, I grab a better blade.

Since this "deal" was posted by SD staff, treat it as a paid advertisement and proceed with caution.

This is a cheap knife for a cheap price. Plenty of similar products available at similar pricing. Nothing special here.
Great point. Thanks and repped.

I've been collecting knives for over 20 years and I can honestly say that Gerber makes some pretty good knives. Not many are stellar due to their steel choice but they have made some good ones. The Fastball with S30V steel is a great folding knife. The Strongarm is a tank of a knife, just with the 420HC it lacks the great factor. I can tell you from all my years of experience with knives there's one thing you should run away from. That's when a manufacture puts in "Stainless Steel" in their blade material. If it doesn't specifically tell you the type they don't want you to know it's garbage.
