I have Nest older model though but it lets you set schedule and it reverts to your set temp setting at whatever time interval you set in schedule and it works fine. No bounce at all works like charm on schedule. No experience with ecobee though
This is the Nest Thermostat E, not the Nest Learning Thermostat. This thermostat allows you to set a schedule for as many changes a day as you want at what specific times, and if you change manually from the schedule, at your set time the schedule was set, it will revert back to that temperature so you don't have to worry about your change being permanent. This thermostat will know when you're away based on your phones, location and set away temperatures and we'll know when you're home based on your phone's location. It gives you HVAC alerts. If it's taking longer for your home to heat or cool then usual, gives you reminders to change the filter, and shows you how long it's been running. You can export your data to an external analysis app, and you'll get so much more than what you see in the Google Home app. Just FYI. I'm not arguing the Ecobee is smarter than this because it is. This is the basic Nest. But even for the other nest, they now have an option for you to export data and get better analysis. I personally love the Nest Thermostat E. It does everything I want because it's only a programmable thermostat, shows me when it's running, turns up or down automatically when I leave the house, And when I come back. Sends me alerts and follows my schedule I've set for it.

Assuming that this is the base level Nest thermostat, keep in mind that your energy company might have massive rebates on it. I just picked one up for $5, including shipping. It would have been $15 for my parents house.
This isn't a good product. Most people who argue that statement hasn't had experience with another "smart" thermostat. I much prefer the Ecobee line, because the Ecobee presents better data analysis every month, and allows the user more control of the automation. Google doesn't automatically revert your temps back to a set level after a certain time like Ecobee does. If you set the temperature for 78 degrees then go to sleep, Google will keep the temperature there forever until you change it again. While it is true that Google will "learn" a schedule and bounce the temps up and down 15 times a day with no clear rhyme or reason, With an Ecobee it it automatically raises/lowers the temp to the zone that you set after a certain time period. This is useful for if you like to raise the temp then go to sleep and have it drop during the night, or raise the temp in the morning then lower it again when you leave. Google doesn't allow for the temp to automatically change in these scenarios. Instead it has to "learn" it which hasn't worked in 7 months. I ended up replacing the Nest in my new condo with an Ecobee. Seems frivolous but that's how much more advanced the Ecobee is over the Nest.

Not to forget that Nest thermostats have a fixed maintenance band/temperature swing of I think 1°F up and down. Might work for some but not for others. That was the main reason I replaced the Nest. It is always either too hot or too cold.
Ecobee's maintenance band can be set as low as 0.5°F, which is what most "dumb" thermostats have.
I did like the design and feel of the Nest though.

Ecobee's maintenance band can be set as low as 0.5°F, which is what most "dumb" thermostats have.
I did like the design and feel of the Nest though.
hi, can you set the band to 2degree for ecobee? TIA
