Was looking for a solution so I don't have to use google voice for checking texts on a second number .. this plan is great as I can make use of the dual sim feature of the phone and check everything under messages/voicemail

I thought the 60/yr plan was eBay only? I always buy it on eBay and put in the code.

apparently yes.

if you create a account for your phone # @ the RP website, you're able to see a renewal option for the same $60 price,, but if you check out, they drop some $12 fee I forget the name of it, so w/ taxes, your total is more than @ flebay for the same plan.

Bike won't get you far and living in a car is illegal in many parts of the country. Uber and hotel are better options.

Point is some things in life you just need one of. And a phone is one of those things.

What the heck is an emergency phone? Do you have an emergency car and emergency house?
A phone one of my kids can take when they go somewhere and want e.g. a way to call us to be picked up etc

I have the option to renew the same plan from my RP account but it seems to tack on a lot of fees for a total of $75 so ebay is going to be the better option.

Do you need to activate this immediately or we can wait? My $20 per month Mint mobile that I thought was better than my T-Mobile ends by June now feels so costly now and I need to switch (I am with Wi-Fi / computer all the time and not really a talkative person Smilie )
No reason to buy now to use later. Buy this when you're ready. It's the same price year round.

What do people use these plans for? Communicating with their mistress?
Got one last year I used here and there for applying for a new job and finding car insurance. This way my regular line is not spammed with my info until the end of time

Found this useful within the past year. Used it briefly for applying for jobs and finding car insurance. Another line allowed my regular line some relief from spam with my info. Could be used for legitimate verification on apps. I do something similar with additional email addresses.
Hopefully this was useful to someone.

As I stated, I was advised it was better to do through eBay so that's the way I've always done it. Didn't even know they had an option to renew, but it seems like it isn't a good deal or way to do it anyway.

All that and more. Yes, Tracfone IS worse. They sold me an empty sim and numerous CS people said there is nothing they could do. You know you are in trouble when you hear a rooster - yes, a rooster - crowing in the background during the call!
Most likely Sebu in the Philippines. Decent people there that helped me out when I had issues. Get this, the customer rep COULDN'T bring up my info on her screen. I can't blame her for that. I would expect with the Verizon takeover of Tracfone, that call centers there and Mexico City will probably be phased out and whoever Ver. uses now will take Tracfone calls also.

I've been using Redpocket for over a year. The phone service is not bad, but their customer service stinks. You get what you pay for. I love the savings and I would recommend them to anyone who is low maintenance. I have saved a lot of money and wouldn't think twice about swapping to them if I was back on a bigger provider.

RP blamed the same issue, phone was literally not turned on at all for 2 months as I wasn't even home but I was checking data use via their website. When I got back, I followed their advice and made some changes to ensure data use was restricted. I also made sure to reset the data counter on the device per RP's request and the 3rd and 4th months had the same issue. They made it right by resetting my data balance each time without much fuss but they did ask to send screenshots of the data counter from the device showing the use for that time period. They were puzzled at first because they didn't understand the device wasn't even powered on in the beginning of this process. I got the plan in case I had a need to have the device in the field for app testing knowing it may run out. I have two other lines on RP as well with different carriers but they are the 500mb plans and they don't seem to have this issue at all. Now I'm waiting for thins one to expire, I'll never get it again.

What code are you referring to?

Why would you refer to this as an emergency phone? It's your kids primary phone. It's not emergency in any manner.

You apply to real jobs with spam info? If I found out you were giving out fake info as an employer, that's a huge red flag and I would never hire. What employers are you applying to that you believe will sell your info?

I've never given out phone number when shopping for car insurance. Most give instant quotes. Don't even need email address unless you are ready to sign up. At that point, I would want to provide real info in case I need a file a claim or someone tries to sue and they need to contact me. Only people doing shady things want spam numbers.

What's a backup device? Why wouldn't you just use your primary phone for everything? Is there something wrong with your phone?
I use this in my iPad. During "planned" electrical outages, I can still read or play games without having to squint while using my phone which has a smaller screen.
