Was looking for a solution so I don't have to use google voice for checking texts on a second number .. this plan is great as I can make use of the dual sim feature of the phone and check everything under messages/voicemail

You apply to real jobs with spam info? If I found out you were giving out fake info as an employer, that's a huge red flag and I would never hire. What employers are you applying to that you believe will sell your info?

I've never given out phone number when shopping for car insurance. Most give instant quotes. Don't even need email address unless you are ready to sign up. At that point, I would want to provide real info in case I need a file a claim or someone tries to sue and they need to contact me. Only people doing shady things want spam numbers.
I think you need to keep an open mind here. Trying to make a cyber statement that is going to end here. Is it safe to assume you have never had to apply on indeed or monster. My senses tell me that you are very familiar with the term "trust fund".

What do people use these plans for? Communicating with their mistress?
We got this exact deal last spring for our kids "smartwatch." He basically uses no data and just needs to call us to pick him up from friends houses.

I'm using Hello Mobile for $5 per month. And, I get unlimited talk and text plus 500 MB of 4G data per month. International calling is also included for 60+ countries at no additional cost. They charge no tax. Also, no need to buy any annual plan - simply sign up for autopay and you are good. This way, you can always port out, if you need to.

Their customer service is crap is what I heard, and I did get a sense of it when I chatted with them when my porting was in progress. Those idiots had no clue on what's happening, and how or when things will happen.
Luckily, things got resolved in a day's time.

I'm using it for the past many months, and it is great so far.

1) wi-fi calling permitted?
2) signal strength/call quality in America's outback?
3) Option to add data as needed?
4) download speeds?

I did two years of this plan on the CDMAS network for my parent's third phone, which basically just sits in the 2nd floor of their house. My last yearly plan ended in December and I decided at the time to transition to the GSMT network. But in the meantime, I ported the number to Xfinity under their $200 BYOD GC offer, with the intention of staying only 3+ months to qualify for the GC. I mainly did that because I didn't want to deal with an internal RedPocket port from one network to another, which is known to cause problems. The Xfinity port didn't cost me anything incrementally except about an extra $2/month in taxes and fees, because I maintain two other lines for my parents on Xfinity. I'm now thinking that I shouldn't pay $30 for another year due to the FreedomPop free GSMT plan available from Walmart for one $10 upfront payment for the SIM.

This is great for kids.
I use this plan on my child's TikTalk watch. For $30 per year, gets a full year of emergency calls.

I thought the 60/yr plan was eBay only? I always buy it on eBay and put in the code.

I have the option to renew the same plan from my RP account but it seems to tack on a lot of fees for a total of $75 so ebay is going to be the better option.
I guess that is YMMV maybe depending on which state you are in. I suspect taxes and fees are higher in CA... In Texas it is actually cheaper to renew on the RP website unless they give a big discount on eBay.

Why would you refer to this as an emergency phone? It's your kids primary phone. It's not emergency in any manner.
No one of my kids "owns" it and they only really get it when they really need it. While they're getting to the age where they're starting to ask for their own device, I wouldn't call this a primary phone myself. Plus obviously they can call emergency numbers on it, but you don't need a plan for that to work. But whatever, everyone has different opinions. Anyway, it's being used sporadically, and it's been fine for this purpose at this price ($2.50/month). That's all I've tried to communicate.

What code are you referring to?
When you buy a plan from eBay they email you a code. Enter it on the website and it expends your service another year.

Damn, I was going to tell you all to just go on FreeUp Mobile, but it looks like the free plan got axed in 2020, but still works for me for my 'burner phone'.
